This looks exactly like my last humidifier which is why I purchased it. It's cast iron, so very heavy and not any worries it's going to accidentally get knocked onto the floor. It is perfect for keeping full of water with the hot stove and watching the steam rise as the heat of the stove increases. It definitely makes a difference in keeping the room humidified and wouldn't be without it. I would definitely purchase this item again and imagine it should last as many years as my other one has.
Painted black, and paint was scratched off in several places but we plan to season it before using anyway.
Had thought about picking up a used one at an antique store, but the old ones are way expensive (but much nicer finish), and this seemed like a good deal at $42. You get what you pay for. I guess for what it is it's ok, but I was expecting a better finish.
May break out the angle grinder and do a little smoothing of the rough areas myself.
Handle is quite heavy-duty, and was hard to bend to fit into the tabs, seems well-matched to weight of the kettle. Overall, this does seem like a heavy-duty piece.
