From the Editor

You know those stories where, as you’re listening, you’re thinking to yourself, “This could never be a movie because it’s too implausible—nobody would ever believe it”? I had that feeling a few years ago during lunch with author Dina Silver, as she described a harrowing experience friends of hers had while traveling by sailboat in the Indian Ocean. When she told me she was going to use those events as the basis for her new book, all I could think was, “Man, I can’t wait to read that!” I’m happy to say the wait is over, and it was well worth it.

The Unimaginable begins with twenty-eight-year-old Jessica Gregory bound, gagged, and fearing for her life aboard the luxury sailboat on which she’s being held hostage by Somali pirates. In flashback, we learn how Jessica, feeling adrift after the death of her mother, decides to turn her world around by moving across the globe to teach English in Thailand. There she gets a part-time job at a local bar and grill, and meets Grant Flynn, who’s reeling from a past tragedy and sailing aimlessly around the world to deal with his grief. When Grant offers her a position crewing on his boat, she jumps at the chance. After all, it’s the adventure of a lifetime with the guy she’s developing feelings for—what could go wrong?

This book is like the perfect date-night movie. At its heart, it’s a love story between two people searching for second chances. But it’s also an epic adventure story of bravery and sacrifice by people fighting for their lives while trying to outsmart a band of outlaws to whom they are nothing but expendable collateral.

When you start The Unimaginable, allow yourself plenty of free time—you aren’t going to get anything else done once you dive into this.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dina Silver's deftly woven tale has all of my favorite fictional elements: romance, action and adventure, and a knock-your-socks-off ending. The Unimaginable is simply superb." —Tracey Garvis Graves, New York Times bestselling author of On the Island

“You’ll be flipping the pages to find out how the story ends.” —Booklist

“Well written, soul searching, and completely inspiring and different, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience reading The Unimaginable. This is a beautiful story of following your dreams, imagining the endless possibilities, living life to the fullest without regrets with love and peace in your heart. Completely addicting.” —Shh, Mom’s Reading

“A compelling story of bravery and guts and dreams. A story of love and survival. I loved the way it ended so much, leaving me on a hopeful high note for a story that had some very real, gritty lows. It’s a great, well-written novel to pick up if you’re looking for a story that captures a sense of adventure, romance, and suspense in one reading experience.” —Vilma’s Book Blog

“Every part of me was consumed with this tale of love, bravery, compassion, heartbreak, and freedom. I have no doubt that The Unimaginable is a book that will stay with me for a very long time to come.” —Holly’s Hot Reads

“I loved The Unimaginable and love that the author created a story that has such depth and emotion. The voyage is anything but smooth and this is where the story gets so intense that I couldn't read fast enough. This one will have you racing to the end.” —The Book Bag

“I sat down to just read for an hour and I ended up devouring the whole thing. It was a white knuckle, gripping story that I couldn’t put down.” —The Next Chapter

“It’s no secret that I love a good romance, but when an author can brilliantly combine romance with some action and adventure, color me happy! Once again, Ms. Silver has written a book that not only captures my attention and keeps it, but makes me want to go back and read the book again.” —Book Mama Blog

“Anyone who wishes swashbuckling and seafaring romances weren’t confined to the days of yore will welcome...The Unimaginable. Awash with the potent themes of love after loss, reinvention of self, and courage under fire, this character-driven story will appeal to adventure aficionados and romance lovers alike. Through both a love story and an exotic adventure in Thailand, Silver ramps up the suspense in the narrative and keeps it high until the very last page.” —Foreword Reviews

About the Author

Dina Silver is an author, a wine drinker, and an excellent parallel parker. She is the author of Kat Fight, Finding Bliss, and One Pink Line, which was chosen as a 2012 Top Title by IndieReader and was a finalist in their 2012 Discovery Awards. She lives with her husband, son, and twenty-pound tabby cat in suburban Chicago. She’d prefer to live where it’s warm year round, but then she’d never stay home and write anything.
