Good product, but...

My application is to charge a Solar Power Station while on the road. It will accept up to 30 volts and up to 120 watts, so this charger with 20v @ 90 watts sounded perfect.

Sadly, the charger has no current limit on the output, so my Power Station sees 121 watts! This is 6.05 amps at 20v, while the charger is only rated for 4.5 amps. You can see by the picture that the charger is pulling 143 watts, so it’s 85% efficient. However, it gets very warm after 5 minutes so I can’t see this lasting very long while being overloaded.

This is otherwise a very nice unit that I’m sure would work well for a laptop, but I’m returning.

I needed a 12v charger for my ASUS ZenBook. I kind of figured that all 19v ZenBook chargers are created somewhat equal, and even though my specific model number was not on their list, surely one of them would work. After all, it does claim to be a "Universal" charger.

Wrong.

If you own a ZenBook, you are aware that there are a gazillion model numbers. Mine is: UX533F. None of the adapters worked. The one that "should" have worked didn't fit into the power receptacle. Two other that did fit (and, had the essentially the same voltage) didn't work either. I guess the ZenBook has a feature where it can tell if the proper charger is plugged in, regardless if the voltage is correct and the plug fits or not.

So, I can't speak for the effectiveness of this product, except to say "Universal" isn't really Universal. I guess that's the really nice thing about standards: There are so many to choose from.

I bought this to use on a 24" 19v television in my ice fish house. I connected to a car battery and it worked great for the first 2 times I used it. On the third use it would momentarily send power to the TV then the blue indicator light would dim out. No power coming out. TV works great with ac-dc adapter so it has to be this adapter that failed.

It was handy and I kept all the different adapter ends in case I needed something else to power, but not if it dies...

I've been using this charger for a couple months in my car and it has worked great for an Asus E203MA laptop. It charges up only when the ignition key is turned on so you don't need to worry about draining the car battery. One issue is the adapter plug is a not as tight as expected and will come out easily if you aren't careful. The unit itself is smaller than I expected so it is pretty non-intrusive sitting in my car.

Both cords are removable, which makes it possible to pack this away in very little space. The parts fit together snugly and feel like they'll stay put.
