The only reason I gave it a 4 star was the instructions were hard to follow.my son can do anything and it was hard for him. I would suggest professional installation.it arrived in a timely manner.the price is very good. It comes with 2 remote controls. It works great.

Not quite enough track

Well designed. Well made. But, the supplied 15' of track is not quite long enough for my 'typical' one story staircase. Another 6" would have been perfect. However, I was able to make this lift work using stout wooden support blocks of increasing thickness under half of the track support brackets. This elevated the track making the lift usable. Otherwise, the seat height at the top of the stairs would have been ridiculously close to the floor! Better info regarding staircase length and measurement is needed on the Amazon sales page.

Great Stairlift; good customer service; instructions are a bit lacking in detail

This is a good solid stair lift; works well to help my spouse up and down our basement stairs. When you install it, a few things that you may want to consider: 1-make sure you get far enough from the wall (I ended up about 8 inches from the stair wall which gave me enough room for the chair to clear the upstairs door); 2-make sure you have adequate clearance from the stair steps to the rail; I believe the instructions say a minimum of 1 inch--I ended up at around 3 inches to keep the foot rest from dragging; 3-You can see the rail ended about 2 inches from the top door, this gives adequate room for the lift to get to the top, chair can swivel if desired, and you can still close the upper door; 4--the plastic chain is particularly challenging, it is designed to bend in only one direction; I didn't realize this initially and the chain would continue to bind underneath the chair; be careful when unwrapping the chain, make sure that where it becomes disconnected you snap it back together in the "right" direction. Overall a great lift; works well, we haven't had any problems since I got it completely setup. I'd have given it 5 stars if the instructions were better and had some pictures to help explain the setup. I hope these help.

Product came missing parts. Had damaged track which you can't tell until you start building it. Had broken gear rack again you don't really notice until you start to build it. Channel for gear rack must have been slightly bent because what should have slid right in took hours to get in the track. Had to repair these problems first then discovered the splice bars which were already supposed to be in the one piece of track were missing. We had to manufacture those ourselves. The glide rails one was too large to fit into the track and when set down next to the other one was larger. We set them side by side and laid a level across them to check it. We had to sand that down to make it fit in the track. The sensor for the seat to be in normal operating position was broken off we were able to reattach it but it had some broken pieces and when on the chair it does not work so chair won't operate so we will need to either eliminate it or replace it. Because of all of the things we either needed to remanufacture or fix it took us over 12 hours to get this in place and it still won't operate because of the broken chair sensor. It will travel up and down with the service switch being held so I will say that once the sensor is taken care of it should work. Would not recommend this product to my worst enemy.

Don't try this by yourself!

First, make sure you have a very competent person who understands stair lifts install this for you. Even though we had the best all around fixer it was difficult to install the stair lift. The instructions are not that good. The drawings leave out things like the manual crank (and there is no handle for that crank). The terrible squeel from running the chair up and down is fixed by using a white lithium grease and directions are not clear where to put the grease. We thought it was on the chain, and then found out that was absolutely not where to put it. It goes on the gear rack. The gear rack is the other black loop of chain that doesn't have teeth. And the grease should be dotted on about every foot apart. Directions don't tell you this. Then a light coat of the lithium grease should be spread on the vertical sides of the track on the outside. But don't get it on the horizontal part because that is where the rollers make contact and you don't want it to slip.

Then, make sure you have the travel cable adjusted so it doesn't go too far up the stairs, not even an inch because you will have trouble like we did. The chair kept going just a little too far, the red light would come on, and I would reset it so it did work, until finally the lift hit the switch too many times and broke it. The is the upper limit switch in the drawings. So now I have ordered a new upper limit switch to be installed and hopefully we have the travel cable adjusted so it won't go too far.

The chair is quite wobbly but works okay otherwise. So, after getting rid of the terrible squeel, adjusting the travel cable, having to cut the track to fit (why doesn't the company ask what length we need and have it precut), and not having a crank included or instructions for how to use the manual lift for up and down, we are happy to have the lift for my disabled husband at this price. Perhaps that is the difference, price! We did not have an option to have a qualified person from Amazon to install the chair.

Oh, and one more comment: The company says the chair folds flat to the wall. That is true that the seat and the foot rest fold flat, but the arms do not fold up so they are still an obstacle for someone walking the steps.

I give the price, service staff and product a 5 star. Delivery and handling 1. Item arrived banged up pretty good and luckly, (with my mechanical abilities) was able to bang it around to an almost flawless end product. Chair arm, assembly cradle and so on were bent to the point of almost no return from shoddy handling, but what can i say, i'm good. Contacted our seller and what a relief it was to speak with their service team, very proffessional. Overall you'll be very pleased with this lift/seller.
