You like dance? You like 80's? PICK THIS UP! Love love love the sound of this album. There are a couple of mellow, but really good songs. And then there are those JAMS with the new romantic vocals over that distinctive 80's dance beats. "Fantasy" is my current 2nd all-time favorite. And, yes, if Daft Punk's lastest (R.A.M.) remotely sparks your interest, you'll dig "The Universe Made of Darkness"

It's funny another review mentioned Random Access Memories because I had been thinking of as much when listening to this for the first time. And all I could think was, this is the album Daft Punk WISHED they released, and I mean no slight to Tesla Boy in that regard. If you're not familiar with Tesla Boy, I would describe them as the most 80s sounding group that's not from the 80s... if you like new wave or 80s synth then get this album now. It's easily the best album of 2013 so far and an astounding an unexpectedly brilliant effort for a sophomore release. I think Dream Machine and Fantasy are the standouts on this release. 1991 is a 90s dance tribute, which has a really nostalgic feel if you remember those days. Paraffin is another great track which had to grow on me for a bit, Fritz Hedler of Azari & III does vocals and sounds uncannily like Prince. M.C.H.T.E., Invisible and Broken Doll are all good as well. I can't really say enough good things about this album. I primarily listen to electronic and its numerous sub-genres, and as I mentioned earlier this is by far the standout album of the year, at least so far. The only other album at this point that even comes close is Vondelpark's Seabed, but it doesn't have nearly as many good tracks on it as this album does.

A couple weak tracks, but the good tracks are very strong and Tesla Boy is by far the best band that tries to emulate the 80s new wave-pop (and in one case, early 90's dance-pop) sound. Songs like Fantasy continue the retro-wave sound Tesla Boy is so good at, and songs like MCHTE add a bit of a dance-pop element to it. I usually don't pay this style a music more than a passive listen, but I really dig Tesla Boy's style and songwriting sense.
