Callisto is a lot of fun and rather addicting! It's like playing traditional Tetris but with multiple players; the pressure comes from your friends/competitors instead of from a "sinking" screen, and strategizing is key. The concept behind Callisto is brilliant but simple, and the game is versatile, with different boards for two, three or four players.

Take simple geometric pieces; place them on the board in turns trying to place all your pieces. Balance between aggressively claiming territory and defensively protecting territory. Sounds simple right? It is, what's not is the complex understanding of your opposition. Techniques that work one game surely will not the next as everyone learns and adjusts. Each game is extremely different as strategies must adapt and in real time. My favorite way to play is with 4 people because there becomes a group dynamic that add an additional layer to the strategy. What I especially like about this game is that there is no pure luck. You have all your tiles in front of you from the start, there is no random drawing of tiles. The only random element that comes in to play are your opponents actions and this is where the real fun starts. It is very simple to learn (takes but a game) but the addiction lasts as you are constantly learning new strategies and techniques, all the while learning about those whom you are playing against.

PROS:

This game is... addicting.

I unfortunately don't play board games very regularly any more, but that's changed since I got Callisto - all my friends are hooked now too, and we play all the time!

The best part is how easy it is to learn the game. The playing field stays level since new players can pick it up so quickly.

One caveat however - if you're not into exciting strategic competition, you might want to look elsewhere - because the matches can get intense! And inevitably someone's looking for a rematch.

Highly recommended for family/friends nights!

CONS:

Is there any way to get extra pieces? Careful not to lose any, since it seems if you're even 1 piece short, you really won't be able to use that color as a player.

Love this game and its addicting, I play with my grandkids and usually they are the ones that gets it out. Friends had it at Lake Powell and we played everyday. I can not express what fun this game is.

This is one of my favorite board games to play with the kids. It really gets their minds running with strategy and it can be payed with multi players which adds to the fun element. Games can last 5-30 minutes depending and it really allows the child to think creatively.

The game itself is enjoyable, it's much more like Blockus than Tetris like some people have been saying, but I'm removing one start because we are missing some of the blue pieces. The game was brand new and sealed up, so the error is on the production end.

This game is an A+. Super addictive. Super competitive. Fun for adults. Very easy to learn. We had to order a second board for the friends we played with which is saying something! Definitely a rare gem.

The game is fun but NOT as fun as Blokus. It is very arbitrary which five segment pieces not to include and blokus has the full variety plus expansions like trigon and 3d. Blokus is also more visually attractive and has better coloring. The rules should have included a more advanced way for 2 experienced players to play that corresponds to 2 player Blokus (not blokus duo, 2 players on regular board)

That is each player having 2 colors and alternating them then combining the scores at the end, using the board meant for four players. The strategic depth is much greater because a player has to be careful not to block one of his own colors with the other and it enables strategies like a player using the combined forces of his two colors. The creator of this game was very negligent to not include this option in the rules.
