I’m a fan of this author’s other works, but this novel was a definite NOPE.
The characters In this series have the dubious honor of being the first cast of characters I’ve ever read where I wished bad juju on them. They were either bland and boring, or described as HORRIBLE people. I can’t cheer for people I’d rather see hit by a truck.
Secondly, it is written from no less than 10 POV! It’s confusing and disjointed and doesn’t allow for the reader to enjoy any one character’s scene before you’re yanked to the next scene, next person.
Next.... the worst world building/explaining ever. Like.... nothing. None at all.
Lastly, I really enjoyed ( please note the extreme sarcasm) how the author explained how people with PTSD are just schizophrenics with brain injuries, and the main heroine doesn’t have PTSD bc she didn’t get her “brain scrambled”. This is not only inaccurate, but incredibly insulting to those who have served or have PTSD.
