About the author

Jolie Mae Miller is an independent author, living in Prince George, Virginia, with her loving husband and amazing children. Her busy home also includes a yorkie named Bella, a poodle named Trixie, and a St. Bernard named Beatrice. Her favorite job is being a Mom and Meme (because she says she's too young to be a "GRANDMA!").
She grew up in Powhatan, Virginia, working in her family's business for many years. After her sister received a life-saving transplant, she pursued and was hired by Richmond-based, non-profit, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). She enjoyed thirteen years working in the Accounting department managing various functions. Today, she has the best job, Mom.
When she's not writing, she can oftentimes be found on the baseball field whether it's watching her youngest son play or watching her husband umpire. All of her children have played, much to her delight. For fun, she enjoys reading as often as possible. Her sporting interests include Baltimore Orioles, Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and she supports Old Dominion University athletics. Additionally, she is an ancestry junkie, knowing quite well it's a never ending project.
Jolie Mae is incredibly blessed to have a supportive family behind her while she pursues her love and passion of evocative writing. She credits her amazing parents for continuing to be positive, guiding forces in her life . Her love of reading definitely came from her Mom and is constantly inspired by her Dad's outgoing personality and knack for great storytelling.

I never expected some of the stuff that went down in this book, I applaud the author because not many books that are series surprise me this much, I usually know some way the characters are headed. Very dominate men in this series, both sexually, physically and in the business world. If you read the first book you know Mark Chesney and Jack Loving. I love these men, they fit into Lizzie's life differently but the same. They both love her, Mark realizes her wants her more as a friend than a bed partner, even though he'd jump her in a minute. Mark doesn't have many people he can really trust because of being so rich, their friendship means more to Mark than anything, trust is hard to find. Jack is a good friend of Marks, Jack finds he's jealous of their friendship, he has a hard time with it, he wants Lizzie all for him. This is what most people think of Lizzie, very trust worthy and stunning gorgeous, smart, nice to be around. She one of those people who doesn't see herself that way, this makes her so alluring to the rich men, she's not after their money. Lizzie takes her husbands death personally, that's the first thing I didn't see coming, I thought Lizzie was a strong woman and could take just about anything, so this blew me away. Many people are trying to help her get her s*** together, Jack loving right at the top of the list, she has no idea about Jack. Of course Mark, her friend Jenny right beside the men. What Lizzie finds out will blow your brain, what lizzie does will blow your brain, What I read blew mine, now I have to wait for the next book! Let's go Jolie!!! I need more, now! I really wanted to tell you so much about this book, you seriously need to read this series.
I was doing a Instafreebie on book one (The Good Samaritan) which I reviewed. The book was so awesome that I immediately put other reviews I had on hold to purchase the second book in the series. Simply out of need to know more about the characters. I was not ready to let them go just yet.
After you read this book, you will understand why I opened this review with the sentences I had. It's still fresh pain I'm feeling here having literally put this book down only 10 minutes ago. Less about me and more about Jack and Lizzie:
There are hidden revelations in the recesses of Lizzie's brain that she will eventually come to grip. In all fairness, I can not spoil anything. Just know that it looked very promising that Jack and Lizzie would finally be together, fall in love, possibly merge their families and become a happy nuclear family unit. Yet for some reason, life is just never that easy, is it? As they get closer, the vindictiveness of Jack's ex wife Victoria and the spitefulness of Cindy Hall, who obsesses over the dashing and unobtainable Mark Chesney, and the growing legal suspicions over Lizzie's new found job has placed Jack and Lizzie in a very bad situation. Unfortunately, not long after things are getting really "good" between them.
It's so easy to love Lizzie. Frail yet strong. She's traumatized yet doesn't really know it. She's morphing into strength but she is at a disadvantage until she fully heals from events in her life. But how does one heal from an unseen monster of the mental psyche that her recollection is unaware of? Somehow deep down, she knows that her good Samaritan has somehow been with her mentally since she was a teen. He is faceless. He is nameless. But he is a presence with her always. She begins to feel these same feelings in Jack. Yet doesn't understand why.
It's so very easy to also love Jack. Almost stalker like, you kind of get the creeps when you realize how much of an extent he has inserted himself into her life. Until you realize that Lizzie is not "new to him". He has loved her for a "long time". He is familiar to Lizzie for a reason. You will love finding out how/why. (That's all you're getting out of me! For YOUR benefit!)
Soon, the lines will be drawn and you will come to understand that these two were destined to be together. Fate has brought them together in Lizzie's deepest darkest despair more than once. There is a reason that they are drawn to each other in life and even during the most darkest moments of her life. When the malicious troll of an ex-wife and jealous bitter Cindy team up and conspire against Jack and Lizzie: they (J&L) allow these ruthless hateful women destroy in a matter of minutes, the love Jack and Lizzie have spent months building. Is the damage also strong enough to destroy what is apparent to the reader...a true love of a lifetime? Both of them are destroyed and Victoria has won, at least for now. Is fate stronger than Victoria's evil plan? At this moment, I'm not so sure........
Future: There is an update on Jolie Mae Miller's website stating that sometime this summer (late July) we will find out if this is the case! I am anxiously awaiting. Don't miss out on this series!
I do, however, have a couple of complaints. One, there are far too many incorrect and unnecessary comma's used, which would throw off my concentration and force me to re-read the sentence to try and make sense of it. Secondly, while I appreciate the local setting and references, I do think that the names were overused, i.e., Richmond, Virginia, or University of Richmond or even the full charity name being used over and over again. I think sometimes it became a bit redundant. The city and state could have been replaced with simply "the city" or something similar depending on the sentence. The college could have been referred to in many places as U of R, or "the college". The charity, once clarified, could have been referenced with it's initials.
I greatly enjoyed these books. I only list the things that bothered and distracted me as I see so much potential for great writing by this author. I am an avid reader of the erotic romance novels and I am looking forward to many more books from Jolie Mae Miller.
