I wanted to like this book so much. I thought the plot sounded great. The heroine was funny. The hero was charming.

But I couldn't even finish it.

The deal breaker? All the business talk. This isn't really a romance novel. It's a corporate venture novel with a romance included. I couldn't handle another word about who was backstabbing who by stealing their patents and blah blah blah.

It literally ruined the novel for me.

I finally put it down. I just couldn't read it anymore. So if you like those types of books, you'll adore this one. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I hope to try this author again in the future.

This story explores Jessica's struggle to accept the uncertainties of her MS diagnosis and to carve out an ambitious career for herself. She’s also been burned in the past by a former fiancé and isn’t ready to trust a man again. She’s on the fast track of trying to get a promotion when she meets James, a smart and sweet guy who has his own career ambitions. He's a down-to-earth person who's on his way to success.

Combined with his work priorities, James feels guilt over his father’s death and hasn’t had the time or inclination to get involved with a woman. But when the two bump into each other, literally, there’s chemistry right away. But they must overcome personal struggles and deep secrets to make it work.

Delightful secondary characters include Jessica’s pushy but well-meaning best friend Lisa, a hot and mysterious past lover Paul with professional connections, and James’ spunky, loyal business partner and friend Chris.

Other aspects to look forward to are the wealth of research and information about the venture capital industry and the private side of dealing with MS symptoms.

If you’re looking for big personalities and a fun, smart romance, this is a book for you.

I've thought a lot about how to write this review, and I have decided that I will write about the emotions that fill the pages of this book. When you read a book that has something known or close in your life simply it is revealing because someone else put your thoughts into words, and knows exactly how to make a path to where all those feelings are connected. This story is exactly that, at first I thought it would be totally different, but as I read the more I realized that this story is more than that, it is the way of someone who lives and feels something that affects many aspects in her life .
I think Jessica's story is the story of many people with MS, once you focus on the emotions this book flows. Kristen Luciani wrote something very different and at the same time made my heart understand the characters and their actions. I am delighted to have read this book, and find a new writer who has the potential to write different emotions, feelings and thoughts.

This is my first book by Kristen Luciani. She writes using point of view dialogue, which I love. There are a few grammatical errors inside but not enough to distract from the story. There are a lot of lessons inside that I believe every reader can relate to, at least, I did. The storyline is solid and the stories held my attention. I say stories because there are a lot of characters learning and changing as the story progresses. I believe this is a wonderful start for the author.

Jessica, as you have read, is the main female character. She has been outlined in the synopsis. She is emotional, competitive, stubborn, career minded, abused and has a lot of things to get used to. MS is a new diagnosis for her. There is no map to follow with this incurable disease. You have to deal with each symptom as it comes. As she throws herself into her career, her boss is a nightmare and she can't seem to do anything right. Her boyfriend, Drew, leaves when he finds out about her disease right in the middle of their engagement and wedding plans. So love is not even a consideration.

James is one half of a business partnership in a company called Lazershark. Lazershark is an upcoming company in gamer technology. The company is profitable and needs funding to grow. The synopsis explains about his father's death and it's effect upon him. Catching your girlfriend in bed with a friend sours his outlook on love. Now he throws himself into the business and man figure to his grieving mother.

Lisa is Jessica's best friend and roommate. She is Jessica's opposite but loves Jessica madly.

Chris is James's best friend and business partner. He is Lisa in male form to James.

Paul is a very successful company owner. He uses women but doesn't want a relationship.

It was a very happy accident that I stumbled across Kristen Luciani recently. I was unfamiliar with her work, but I can now say that without a doubt, I will be a fan for life! I was thoroughly impressed with not only the writing, but the characters, the story line and the very real life battle the female protagonist fights just makes a wonderful book really come to life! Unlikely Venture tells the story of a woman fighting to live a normal life, a man struggling to find a fresh start, and a past neither one of them can avoid.

Jessica is an amazing character. She's ambitious, goal oriented, has spunk for miles, a brilliant woman in her career, and she doesn't take crap from anyone. Especially when it comes to her job and fighting for her rightful place in the company. So when you discover that through all of this she is fighting with MS, you see just how truly remarkable she is. But the disease does not come without its faults. Her fiancé left her because of it and she struggles daily with the different symptoms that occur. But Jessica battles through with a brave face and thick skin!

James is on the career path of his dreams. He and his best friend own their own extremely successful tech company, they've made a very profitable company with their smart and lucrative business deals, and let's face it, he's a smart, successful and gorgeous businessman. But he too has faced some hardships, most recently with he death of his father that brings him home. He needs a fresh start and with his best friend Chris, LazerShark is on the road to becoming a household name.

But a chance meeting, multiple times in a matter of days, screams kismet and our characters are sent into a whirlwind of a romance that made sure I never put the book down!
