Whether you are a squib, a muggle, or a well known wizard, the ideas in this Harry Potter Party book will be sure to turn your party from humdrum to heroic in a way that is purely magical. With tons of ideas for crafts, decorations, games, and goodies, kids of all ages will enjoy being transported to the world of Harry Potter.

I will admit it, I have read and loved all the Harry Potter books, and have seen all the movies but the most recent. If I were a kid, heck even as an adult, I think I would love to have a Harry Potter themed party, whether for a birthday or perhaps for a movie release. This book is chock full of fantastic ideas that fit nicely into any budget.

I first love the various crafts that can either be used to make decorations or as activities at the party. Each has a rating of difficulty, as well as a price estimate, so you can pick and choose what works best with your budget and party age group. The activities range from simple to complex, again depending on your preference. A big trend with child birthday parties is to have crafts or activities related to the theme, so I think a lot of parents will find these ideas helpful, and the kids will love them as well.

My absolute, hands down, favorite part of the book is the section of recipes for snacks and drinks. Again, the creativity and variety are simply fantastic.

In short, this book is extremely helpful for anyone planning a Harry Potter themed party of any sort. Parents will find the ideas helpful and easy to execute. One does not need to be magical to pull off a great party, all thanks to this book!

I was turning 21 so I wanted to have a well-remembered 21st birthday party bash. I did a quick search online and found this cool book. Being a huge fan of Harry Potter, it was the perfect birthday theme I needed! Yes, some might say, isn't such books for kids? And my answer is NO! This book is for anyone from kids to grown ups, as long as you love Harry Potter you would have lots of fun. Using this book, my birthday was memorable...Get this book and you would be glad you did!

As a huge Harry Potter fan, this book had a lot of expectations to live up to. E actually attended a Harry Potter theme Birthday Party last year, so I had some ideas of what one creative mom came up with on her own, which was a lot to live up to.

This book exceeded my expectations. There are some very clever creations and imaginative games. Some of the ideas were a little hoakie, but for the most part it was right on. The author was able to create a party plan starting on platform 9 3/4, being sorted into houses, going to classes, and truly experiencing the Harry Potter world in an inventive and creative way.

Whether you use the crafts as decoration, keepsakes, or projects for the kids during the party- they are great. Each craft starts with a picture of the end product and a supply list, the instructions are easy to follow and well written. The only one that I found a bit challenging to follow was the Sorting Hat, but after some finagling we figured it out.

The classes cover herbology, potions, and charms lessons. Games cover not only the predictable Quiddich, but also Flubber Worm Races, House Elf Relay, Werewolf Attack, Patronus & Dementor, and more! The book finishes off with party food ideas which also provide a picture and easy to follow instructions and supply lists.

After seeing the reviews I excitedly bought this book. The games in the back are cute, and some basic recipe ideas are presented such as dipping licorice in chocolate to make chocolate wands (nothing special). While the variety of ideas in this book are appealing, the crafting is very poor. It is obvious the author is not adept at this. It is too adult for kids (hot glue guns) but not exciting enough for adults. It's like we're caught in the middle. If you have worked with polymer clay, picture how you can make every project. For example extendable ears: You sculpt a polymer clay ear, and poke a hole through it, then tie on a string. I could have done this without a book, and to boot the ear shown isn't very good. Beyond using aquarium gems in various projects like glass vases for house points (which isn't exciting at all) the only variety is the addition of fur to the monster book of monsters (which is the best one and not enough to redeem the book) and the sorting hat which is made out of a brown paper bag, and doesn't look good. I've seen way better ideas in Halloween magazine for a few dollars. There aren't many photos of how to, but with a cheap book that is to be expected. Frankly the projects are so simple anyone who has sculpted with play dough could come up with the idea. They just aren't unique or exciting at all (and let's face it, Harry Potter crafts should be). A Remembrall is a rubber sparkle ball with polymer clay wrapped around it to create a band. I know with craft books every craft won't be a winner, but this one is nothing to sing about. Not worth buying, there are better crafts online for Harry Potter fans.

This little book is full of great ideas if your child would like a Harry Potter party for a birthday or just any occasion - even Halloween! Cookbook, craftbook, gamebook - something in here for all! Even as an adult I'd have fun doing some of these projects. The treats section is full of good ideas for things to munch on at a party, or even a rainy day while doing the craft activities! Most of the crafts are relatively inexpensive and many materials can be found around the house.
Go for it and have a happy Harry Potter fete!
