Marcus B. Weaver-Hightower is Professor of Foundations of Education at Virginia Tech. He was previously professor of Educational Foundations and Research at the University of North Dakota and Fulbright grantee to Australia. Marcus B. Weaver-Hightower is Professor in the School of Education at Virginia Tech.  His research focuses on boys’ education, masculinity studies, qualitative research methods, food politics, using comics and graphic novels in research, and the politics and sociology of education and policy. He is a former high school English teacher and the author of numerous articles and books, including Unpacking School Lunch: Understanding the Hidden Politics of School Food (Palgrave, 2022), How to Write Qualitative Research (Routledge, 2019) and The Politics of Policy in Boys’ Education: Getting Boys “Right” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008). He co-edited the Wiley Handbook of Gender Equity in Higher Education (2020), School Food Politics (Peter Lang, 2011), Leaders in Gender and Education (Sense, 2013), and The Problem with Boys’ Education (Routledge, 2009). He was a Fulbright scholar to Australia in 2003, and has won numerous awards for his research and teaching.
