You know you're in for some twists and turns when even the main characters have no idea what is going on. I fell right back into this storyline a couple months after reading Ordinary (been patiently waiting, NOT). The characters are so full of life and detail, everything comes flooding back and you're caught holding your breath until you turn the page. If you haven't read Ordinary, you must read it before Unremarkable.
I read this book in 5 hours, but not because it's a 'fast read'. You are completely drawn in and the action, humor and romance is so well timed, but it's the suspense or mystery that pushes you on. Unremarkable does end on another cliff hanger, but knowing Lindy Zart, she's working on the third, and maybe two other books, as you read this.
Honor is back and better than ever, genetically that is. Above all, save others before herself. She blames herself for all the pain and death that is happening in the hidden world of UDs & UDKs. She tires to find out the truth about what Superior August has done to her and why. She can't just run away from the horrible reality because there are others in need of her help and she is hopeful on the status of her mother and sister. Every bit of information is questionable. Every truth or lie, comes with a price. She is tortured physically and mentally and you just wish someone was there to help her through it.
“I… killed… him,” she moaned, quietly weeping.
“You had no choice.” Even as he said it, he knew it was true. There was no other way she would have taken another life. Tragedy-hued orbs lifted and stared.
“You always have a choice, Ryder. This time, I chose me.” Her lips trembled and she blinked, dislodging a cascade of tears.

Agent Nealon (my book boyfriend) is considered a traitor to the UDKs but only cares about the wellbeing of Honor. His guarded heart won't allow Honor to make her way in. Not that they are focused on this and adamantly denounce it, there's a civil war brewing, but still...
“Keep your hands to yourself then, Rochester, and your simpering looks too.”
“Simpering? Simpering? I do not simper!” Honor’s jaw clenched. “And if I was, it wouldn’t be at you! I was trying to thank you. That is all. You’re old and— and rude and I would never simper at you. Just so we’re clear.”
Biting back a grin, he said, “Oh, I think we’re clear.”

Ryder, the boy who harassed our stoic Honor, revealed to be an understudy to Superior August and ends Ordinary with readers hating him, comes back with a main objective but no sure-fire way of obtaining his goal. His proclamation to Honor is raw and sweet. He isn't taking any chances this time and makes every moment count. Ryder ends Unremarkable with readers no longer hating him, but loving the hell outta him.
It didn’t matter. He’d wanted to kiss her since the first time he’d seen her, and now it was like seeing her for the first time all over again; he wasn’t going to let the chance escape him this time. Life was too short, too full of mistakes and pain, to not kiss Honor Rochester. Her lips melded to his a second before her teeth clamped down on his lower lip. A sharp sting and the taste of blood registered in his head.

More FAV QUOTES:
It was Demi’s. Demi, the woman he’d loved. Demi, the woman turned UD; Demi, the one who tried to kill him and was killed instead.

Ryder would recognize her no matter what. Her petite frame, her midnight hair, those dark blue eyes and pale features— it was Honor. Air escaped him in a ragged breath and his insides twisted. Wonder washed over him, making him dizzy. Was it really her, or was it a cruel trick courtesy of his eyesight?
“Are you a ghost?” he whispered, his vocal cords failing him as he crept toward her.
Zart, Lindy (2013-12-10). Unremarkable (Anything But) (p. 60). . Kindle Edition.
"So she picked up the gun, pointed it at my heart, and at the last second, raised it to her head instead.” In the silence that followed there was heaviness, the quiet full of sorrow and regrets and loss.

August’s gaze collided with hers. “You try anything this time and I will cut off the pinky and index finger on your sister’s right hand while your mother watches. We’ll see how much she’s drawing after that.”
