We get to see how Prospect King becomes the man he is in the "Butcher Boys", the chance meeting with Elena & their instant attraction. Having to put his club first, even when things happening within it aren't how they should be & having to put the women he loves in the back of his mind until he is patched. Meanwhile Elena has been put into a tough situation, getting worse as time slowly crawls between the times she can see King again... Oh how I feel for Elena, she stays strong even under the circumstances she is under....
I can honestly say I was about half way through when all the characters finally clicked in my head, not sure why it took so long, it may have been because King was so young & different. But then we'd only ever seen him as the head President previously, & like I said it was only ever snippets.
Max does what Max does best, dark troubling subjects brought to light, writen so that you can feel the pain, the hurt, the need to fight just by reading the words. From Prologue to the very last word Max left me in AWE yet again, the darkness, sadness, courage, loyalty, brotherhood, love... then the twists, all of this wrapped up into something truly wicked to read. But the story is only half way through for King & Elena, I'll be needing more ASAP.
Elena - I love Elena. She's a little naive in the beginning but she's actually my favorite part of this book. She is... damaged. She's strong and you keep hoping things get better for her. You empathize with her so much that when she breaks you break. She's one of the best written characters I've come across
King - I loved you King. I really did. And I still kinda do. But I still want a pair of rusty loppers to attack you with. I can't explain without spoilers but just know that King will steal your heart and then make you want to stab him then steal it again.
All in all this book is amazing and now I need to go stare at Max's social media like a cat so I can gobble up any scraps of info about book 2 because May is very very very far away.

****An advance reading copy of Unrequited by Max Henry was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review****
I was torn while reading Unrequited. The characters were strong, stood up for themselves, and didn't take any crap. I think that's what saved it for me. The last 15% is where I was really glued to the story, trying to piece everything together.
I really loved King's character. He was strong. He showed what was important to him. While most characters in an MC story are 100% club first no matter what, King had trouble holding up that idea. As the story progressed, he found other things that held the same importance. He just has to find a way to make it all work.
Elena is as strong as she can be given the circumstances. She does what she thinks is best for her and her family. She tries her hardest to stand up for herself, even after she gets pushed down.
While I did find myself having to push through the beginning of the story, I have to read the next book. The way we're left at the end of Unrequited leaves us wanting more, eagerly awaiting the next story in this series. I'd say a well-done for Max Henry with this new series.

Elena is so sassy and vibrant but she's been dealt a rough hand that's probably going to get worse before it gets better.
These two are great together and I can not wait to read the next book and I hope they get their HEA!!!
