About the Author
Jay Merin has had a life-long love affair with fiction. He loves when a story can take him somewhere, make him feel, and he especially loves those moments when reading a book or watching a movie where something so amazing, so well-crafted, so moving happens that he has to stop and just bask in how great experiencing that moment was. Jay wants to share that moment, to give that moment to others. He wants his stories to hook readers, draw them into fascinating worlds and make them never want to leave. For a very long time he has written various different kinds of stories for a myriad of mediums. But Unrequited is the first novel length work he has finished. It is a labor of love and he dedicates it to his family who supported him so much in making sure that it got finished. In the end, if Jay can give one person out there one of those moments with his work he will consider himself a success. The more people who experience those moments the better, of course.

A great read I'd recommend to all readers. Kudos to the Author!
One night, Mason notices a winged creature called a roesied approaching close to Shayla's window. These things are ferocious killing machines. Mason engages in battle and fights it with everything he has. A car alarm goes off and Shayla and Richard come out to investigate and find Mason who is hurt. He tells them it was a hit and run and he doesn't want to go to the hospital. She brings him in and from that moment on--her world and life will be changed forever.
Richard is missing and a monstrous beast is out to get Shayla and Mason. The plot thickens and twists and turns will surprise you. No spoilers here, but this was one action packed fantasy that kept me turning the pages dying to figure out what was going to happen. It's a fantastic read! The dialogue is witty and clever and the pace is perfect. Unique characters come to life making you feel like you are right there in the story.
You will be grabbed from page one. Unrequited takes you on a nonstop thrill ride. I definitely give this book 5 stars without a doubt.
Go on this wild ride with Jay Merin, enter into a world beyond imagination, pick up your copy of Unrequited, you will not be sorry.
Mason and Shayla really grow on you as the main characters of this story. Mason especially, as I found I didn't much like him at first. The more you learn about him, his past, the more endearing of a character he is. I liked that I was able to change my opinion of him through the story. Shayla did come off as a little too perfect at the beginning, but slowly we see her change. Not necessarily for the better. As we learn more of Mason, and see Shayla change, we start to see two very different characters from when we began.
The only part of the book that didn't meet my expectations was the ending. It wasn't poorly written, but...unsatisfying. I suppose I expected to hear more about the other characters and Irrean. It focused solely on the humans of the book.
Unrequited is an interesting blend of genres with strong characters and a solid storyline. It's part fantasy, part action adventure and part romance all rolled into one. The end result is a trip to places you've never been before. I enjoyed the story and recommend it.
