Robin Thatcher was the boy at the bar. He was there with his brother having a drink. He had noticed a great looking woman at a table across from him. He tried not to be obvious but his eyes kept moving over to her table. He had always loved older woman and this one was a knockout. When the waitress asked him what he was drinking and said that a lady wanted to buy him a drink, he of course wanted to know who. All the waitress would tell him was that it was the woman's birthday and she wanted to share it with him by buying him a drink. Robin hoped it was the gorgeous woman across from him. A bit later he drove his brother home and came right back to the restaurant to see if the lady was still there. He ended up parking his truck next to her car and waited while she and her friend did a bit of shopping at the book store. When she came out he was able to talk her into following him to his house so they could spend some time together. This is where this story takes off. (no spoilers from me!)
Robin and Leslie are great characters. Robin is so cute and loving even though he had such a horrible childhood. His older brother is still abusing him and doesn't even realize it. Leslie has had a hard life and has lost everyone in her family. They are so good together even though there are so many years difference between them. I loved every minute of this book. Well written with a great story line.
The story begins with the h' s fiftieth birthday party out with friends. She anonymously buys a drink for eye candy sitting at the bar, a man about the age of her college age son. But he puzzles out who she is, privately confronts her, and invites her to follow him home. She follows Bogie' s advice about no regrets, acts out of character, and ends up at H's house waiting out a blizzard and a bout of stomach flu. By the time she leaves, however, they both know what they have found together is rare and worth fighting for. They just don't know all the obstacles they will encounter.
This is a great sexy romp with mild bdsm-- one I recommend and will reread.
In this fourth book, Robin admits he is immature and he tears up easily. It's up to Leslie to guide him. And in my opinion, the heroine should never spank or dominate the hero. Again, personal preference.
The sex was hot and steamy and the plots were interesting and unique. I just wish the males were more alpha.
