I read a lot of books...sometimes so many in a week that the names get mixed up or forgotten and I lose memory of the plot...basically they become a blur because honestly, so many are not original or don't stand out from the crowd.
THIS book has become my top read for 2015...not kidding at all... it gutted me, made me cry more than once but overall just left me feeling warm, tingly all over and longing for the good old days when I lived in a small town surrounded by family and friends and warmth.
Jack is a man who loves deeply but not always in the way you might see on the outside...boyish, headstrong and living with mistakes he made as a teenager but somehow he doesn't regret because he has Claudia now.
Claudia, the hard-to-read young woman who aspires to be so much more than the small town she grew up in or the working class, blue collar men she calls family (her uncles Rocco and Getty)...she is as smart and cautious as she is beautiful.
Easton and Anya...a brother and sister who will break your heart with their stories, make you hate them and then fall so head over heels in love with them, that you will be absolutely gutted at their fate in this book.
I like to think of this novel as the "land of broken dreams" and "love lost, love found" as so many life changes befall these wonderful people in their quest to find happiness and fulfill their goals.
To say that Cora Brent can write family drama and angsty relationships is an understatement. I first read her biker books (because that genre is one of my favorites) and then moved on to her bad-boy romances...but this epic family saga is so deeply moving and spans lifetimes of all of these colorful characters, that I was left overwhelmed with emotions.

Claudia and Easton are bound together due to the fact that her father is marrying Easton's sister, Anya. Claudia's father, Jack, had her when he was 15 and did not do the best job of raising her. To say she has issues is an understatement, not the least of which is her calling her dad "Jack". They have had a tumultuous relationship and Claudia moved away to Arizona as soon as she became an adult to leave her dad and family behind. When Claudia returns home for her father's wedding she sees that Easton has grown up and doesn't quite know what to do with the attraction they feel for each other. Easton is 4 years younger and Claudia uses that as an excuse to treat him like a kid every chance she gets. Their relationship and this book spans several years and things are not always as they seem. Easton is hiding how his pitching elbow really is, Anya and Jack are hiding a big secret and Claudia is just hiding period. When things look like they are going to work out for Easton and Claudia, fate steps in again and Easton is the one who hides away this time. When things get the point where Jack and Anya can no longer hide how bad her deteriorating condition is, Claudia does the right thing and comes home. Easton sees his chance to get the girl he has always wanted but has to wait for the right time to act on it. The book was well done and we got several different POV's throughout this story which made it that much better. It was an interesting concept and I was very happy I read it.

There comes a time when you read a book and it so good that you read it at a snail's pace. Not because it’s dragging but because it’s that good that you don’t want the story to end. You don’t want to say goodbye to these characters. This is that book.

This book was actually two stories. You have the story of Claudia and Easton and then you have the love story of Jack, who is Claudia’s dad, and Anya, who is Easton’s sister. These two stories were woven into one love story.

In this story it’s like one big fat Italian family.

Meet Claudia Giordano- she is back in town for her father Jack’s wedding. She never thought she would see the day her father would settle down. He did become a dad at the mature age of 15. To say that he wasn’t the best dad in the world is an understatement. I mean when people were going to prom he had a 3 year old that was potty training. It wasn’t fun for either of them.

Luckily Jack had his parents to help and also his younger brothers Getty and Rocco. I’m not sure how much they actually helped since they were only a couple years older than Claudia.

So Jack is marrying Anya, who was in Claudia graduating class and was also a mean girl. Ugh. This should be fun.

Claudia Giordano managed to stumble as she tried to exit Rocco’s car. I heard a rip and saw a peachy flash of upper thigh as she cursed and pushed her skirt down. She glanced at me but didn’t show even a flicker of recognition.
I, on the other hand, would have known her anywhere.

Watching her in the shadows is Easton Malone. The wild nineteen-year old baseball player who is insufferable, arrogant, crude, and far too close. He has been in love with Claudia since he was 14 years old.

This was my first book by Cora Brent, but it sure as hell will not be my last!!!

I loved this book from the first word until the very last. This book provides us with two stories in one and while both are very different they are both equally beautiful and Ms. Brent brings them together with an absolutely perfect ending.

Easton Malone has had the hots for Claudia Giordano since he was 14 years old. She stared in many of his boyhood fantasies over the years!!! Imagine his surprise when his sister and her father wind up falling in love and getting married!!! When she comes home for the wedding he gets to see if she still lives up to those fantasies.

Claudia is less than pleased that her dad is marrying Anya Malone, but decides to be an adult about it and not cause any problems. When she first sees Easton she can’t believe this fine specimen of a man before her is the little boy that grew up down the street. She tries to fight her attraction to him, but it just doesn’t work, not even a little bit…. ☺

Easton and Claudia’s story spans over a period of 6 years and let me tell you there were many times I wanted to reach in my ipad and shake the life out of both of them. They just couldn’t seem to get it together until they finally did and wow, it really left me with a happy heart and a big ole smile on my face!

Jack Giordiano has never quite been able to get his s**t together and was not a very good father to Claudia, although he does try, he just never seems to get there. He goes through life doing his thing until he meets Anya Malone and then everything in his whole world changes. Their story is one of love, hope and new beginnings. I absolutely loved the way Jack and Anya’s story was written into Easton and Claudia’s it was fabulous!

I laughed, I cried, I was beyond angry but in the end I was just in love with this story and the way it played out!
