Unsaid Things is the fourth book in The Players of Marycliff University Series by Jerica MacMillan. It is a touching, emotional and heart-warming, NA/college romance.
The story follows Lance and Abby, who we met in ‘Summer Fling’, the first book in the series. This starts off six months into their relationship. With Christmas approaching Lance has exciting plans, starting with spending what he hopes will be a special Christmas with his family in Texas, accompanied by Abby, and proposing to her on Christmas morning. But as we have come to expect with this pair, nothing comes easy for them- especially when it comes to Abby’s family issues, feelings of abandonment and her head strong, stubborn streak. So, it’s no surprise to find that Abby receives a phone call that has her worried and insisting on returning home to deal with a family situation. Out the door goes Lance’s romantic ideas and instead they are bang smack back to Abby building a defensive barrier around herself. Something that Lance had worked hard to breakdown and had hoped they were past it all. He finds himself being pushed away, while Abby tries to deal with everything on her own. Will Lance find a way to break through to her again? Or will she succeed in pushing him away once and for all? What about Lance’s plans on proposing? What does fate have in store for these two?
I recommend that you read book one before starting this book because the characters are introduced, their backstories laid out and a lot of groundwork is covered in that first book. You will enjoy this book far more by having all the facts that are found in the first book.
Ms. MacMillan doesn’t disappoint when it comes to writing emotional, heart-warming, and heart-achingly beautiful stories that draw you in and keep you snared within the pages right till the end. Her characters are always well developed, complex, passionate and interesting. The characters struggle and work really hard to earn their happiness, there is no easy ride for them. I found myself really rooting for them to succeed and was invested in their story.
I recommend this book, and series, to anyone who loves emotional, heart-warming, NA/college romance, with interesting, endearing and passionate characters!
Thank you, Ms. MacMillan!
I really liked this book. I feel that Jerica MacMillan writes characters with a lot of depth and relatable backstories, and it was easy for me to become emotionally attached to these characters. I enjoyed that even though this is the fourth book in the series that I was able to read it as a stand-a-lone and still feel as if I knew what was going on with the characters. I would enjoy reading the other books in this series, too! I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of young adult romance novels!
