Brooklyn's heart was broken three years ago by her ex-boyfriend, Damon. She thought he was the one, so the breakup left her totally blindsided. She relocated to D.C. with her best friend in hopes of starting over. But instead she's stuck in a job she hates and doesn't really have any interest in dating. Until she meets, Logan. A hot, CEO and potential new client for the marketing firm where she's an assistant. He pursues her until he can finally convince her to go on a date. It may be a conflict with her job, but she just can't resist. When she finds out later Logan might be lying to her and Damon wants her back, it leaves her confused.

I hate to say this, but I found this book to be boring and unoriginal. It was the typical CEO falls for the innocent, broke girl. Some of the things that happened reminded me of other books that I've read. The way Brooklyn and Logan met in the lobby of the building, the trying too hard to be cute email banter, Logan suffering from nightmares and the surprise gala. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if there had been some passion and chemistry between Brooklyn and Logan. Or something unique about their connection, but it was weak at best. Brooklyn was immature and really whiny. I'm hoping the second book is better.

I am so annoyed right now! I kept reading, hoping it would get better and ended up with a cliffhanger! Ugh! I'm not even intrigued enough to inquire about the next installment. I gave the book 2 stars because I actually liked Logan. The story moved too slow, not enough passion. I felt like the h was kind of a cold fish.

I said I would never read series books because I feel that its a waste the author could've just put it all in one book and I feel the same about this one I have to start paying attention before I click the only exciting thing about this book was the ending now I have to purchase the second part I hope its better then the first.

I try to be positive with my reviews because I understand the difficulty in writing. I applaud any writer who makes it to the "open market" and shares their hard earned imagination with the public. With that said, I'm sorry but this book did not feel like a four or five star book. I'm not clear on why many people are giving it the rating that is listed. For example, the book centers around a woman who was badly hurt in her last relationship. She finally decides to move forward with the hero of the book. However, several things occur that stop her from fully engaging with the hero. Y I thought she was very immature and the reader did not witness her growth as a person. The character development was missing. Also, I felt the male lead did not have a real story behind his character. He was just the perfect man. I like a little reality with my male leads. Also, the plot development. I do not want to give away the plot, but trust me - it did not have a logical path. Most importantly, I didn't feel the chemistry between the two main characters. My advice to the writer is to develop your female leads more especially in an interracial novel. Avid readers of this genre really like to see strong female leads or want to see that the main character is growing into a strong female lead. This is a new author and I applaud anyone who tries to go down this path. I think she definitely deserves an A for effort but it was not a classic read. I will not buy the second in the series.

After a very slow start I finally got into this book and really enjoyed the budding romance between Logan and Brooklyn. From two completely different worlds these two faced more obstacles than most couples do in the short time they are together in this book. I really didn't like the ex Damon. I can't imagine the pain Brooklyn had to suffer alone for so long.
Her heart was broken and she didn't even want to give anybody a chance to heal it.
Logan is a sweet endearing hero but has his skeletons and really loves to spoil Brooklyn.
I found that Brooklyn was very impulsive and rash a times and made some pretty in the moment choices that bothered me. I almost felt like she didn't deserve Logan. He saved the story for me and the ending almost made me feel like he deserves to find somebody that will give him a chance not judge him at every chance she gets. Brooklyn at times showed that he was helping her with her broken heart. When they were together at times she'd seem to really be happy with him. I felt like she was making progress and maybe the hurt was healing slowly.
But then she'd do something harsh and I'd want to slap her again.
I hope that Brooklyn redeems herself because in my opinion she's completely wrong. In the end I give this story 4 stars because I really loved Logan and want to see him find happiness. Not sure I want him with Brooklyn.

I truly enjoyed the story and the characters...am not looking forward to book two in the series because author smacked me in the face with her leading lady's actions...I expected much more maturity from an intelligent character...great story telling until the last chapter...it seem to be a desperate way to lead into book two...no thanks, not looking forward to the cowardice drama...the leading lady deserved better character progression...disappointed...
