**NOTE I typically avoid any and all spoilers however you will find a few in this review. Unspeakable Truths is a multi faceted story that is nearly impossible to fully review without giving away some spoilers. SO if you want to read the book blinding I suggest stopping now.**
Unspeakable Truths is one of those books that you will find yourself wondering “did I just read that right” over and over again. So lets just dig right in to the nitty gritty. The Prologue… is amazing and at first I felt like “am I reading a Prologue or an Epilogue?” THEN you get to Chapter 1 and you find out that the fairytale has been ripped right out of their hands.
Every Phillips appeared to have the world at her fingertips. She recently finished college, just completed construction on her custom built home and married the man of her dreams. Only thing left was to live out her happy ever after…
Luca Jensen was Tyler’s best friend. He was the best man in Tyler and Everly’s wedding and with Tyler the night of the accident.
Their worlds were ripped apart. Luca relocated and Everly nearly became a recluse. This lasted for nearly four years.
In a chance meeting Luca and Everly reunited. Although this meeting was anything but happy. Not only did Everly believe Luca was responsible for Tyler’s death BUT she also believed Luca had always hated her. She was wrong… really really wrong, on so many levels!!!
And so it begins. The fireworks, the thrill of the ride and the oh so sweet build!!! Walls crumble, secrets are unveiled. Two people struggle with attraction and with what some may consider a forbidden romance.
Unspeakable Truths is an amazing story filled with heartache, sarcasm and really really hot sex. In some ways it is a second chance at live for this couple. Don’t we all want to believe that when life has dealt us a s***ty hand, maybe just maybe there can be light at the end of the tunnel. I highly recommend you grab this book TODAY!!!
If you are someone who can overlook grammar errors in almost every sentence, you may be able to enjoy this story. If you're like me and lack of comma usage, run-on sentences, homophone mistakes and a plethora of other grammar issues (you name it, it's in this book) will pull you out of a story, do yourself a favor and look for a book where the author cares enough about her writing to at least make use of Word's grammar checker.
I read Alice Tribue's first series and really liked it. Yes, it's a romance, but I enjoyed the story and the characters. When I read the synopsis for this story, I thought that it sounded good. I knew by reading the synopsis that this wasn't going to be a typical romance story. When I say typical I mean the kind of story where the boy and girl meet and are in love within the first 10 minutes of meeting. There is an attraction and a pull to them. Ugh, please. The story of Everly and Luca is most definitely not typical. Everly and Luca HATE each other. They literally can not stand to be in the same room as the other and they have never gotten along since the very beginning. Time isn't a helper in that fact either.
Everly and Luca spend a lot of time bickering and hating each other that you aren't quite sure what's going to happen. It's one of those stories where you are asking yourself "Where is this going? How are they going to go from this pure hatred to anything else?" It's like a train wreck at times because you just know that when they get together something explosive is going to happen. And it's never a safe bet on which side the instigation is on. I give Unspeakable Truths 4 books.
SPOILERS: I was very relieved that h's deceased husband did not cheat on her. It would have been so easy for the author to do that, to make him look less worthy of the h then Luca. While he was for another reason, cheating was not it. I believed that he loved her. Also it made me mad that no one was willing to pursue the husband's killer. I don't care whose reputation it would hurt, leaving a killer free is wrong for several reasons including he could kill other people and based on what little we know, probably will. END OF SPOILERS
I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
