About the Author
Dr. Kimberly Pope-Robinson is a sought-after speaker and the founder of 1 Life Connected. She has served in the veterinary field for more than twenty years. After graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, she practiced in both the large and the small animal sectors. In 2007, Dr. Pope transitioned into a leadership position for a corporate veterinary practice, and then to a position in the pharmaceutical industry, where she worked with veterinary specialists and colleges of veterinary medicine. During this time, Dr. Pope supported hundreds of veterinarians and their teams. Dr. Pope’s career experience provided her with a unique exposure to the stresses of the veterinary profession. This gave her a strong understanding of the lack of fulfillment often found in the profession. Since then, Dr. Pope has worked to help others manage their perfectionist tendencies, confront their personal shame, and develop the skills of self-forgiveness and resilience. These became cornerstones of 1 Life Connected, through which veterinarians build the foundation for a sustainable career in the industry. A dynamic speaker, Dr. Pope shares the 1 Life Connected message around the country, helping others to stay connected with their life’s passion through their careers. She and her husband of fifteen years, Jeff, live in San Clemente, California, with a variety of furry and feathered friends.

As the author states, we are not broken and therefore do not need to be fixed. The book simply helps to reframe the mindset of the reader. I'm excited to look into the additional resources as well - worksheets and online community to help support moving forward on an individualized plan. If you work in the veterinary field - or are a caregiver of any kind and are starting to feel disconnected from your work I highly recommend this book.
The key concepts throughout the book can apply to anyone - whether you are a Veterinarian or someone who works in an office building, and/or a homemaker. Dr.Pope-Robinson brings in many personal stories that will at times bring you to tears. This statement stood out to me in her book, "Courage helps us get perspective, balance risk with action, and overcome negativity." I read this book in one sitting, as I did not want to put it down! Good job Dr. Pope-Robinson on writing and speaking out about a very tough and personal subject (Suicide) that affects many!
