This book is quite easy to read.
The writer, George MacDonald (1824-1905), was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He was one of the most respected authors of his generation in 19th century Scotland. MacDonald was the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. C. S. Lewis regarded MacDonald, who lived a century before him, as his "master." Lewis wrote,"I know hardly any other writer who seems to be closer, or more continually close, to the Spirit of Christ Himself." MacDonald's writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many other notable authors including W. H. Auden, J. R. R. Tolkien, Christian author Oswald Chambers and Walter de la Mare. G. K. Chesterton said one of MacDonald's books "made a difference to my whole existence." Even Mark Twain, who initially disliked MacDonald, became friends with him.
I recommend these delightful and uplifting "sermons" to every Bible lover and truth seeker.
