Evan Barrister and June Mayson met when they were younger and after a whirlwind courtship, were secretly married before Evan leaves for the military. While Evan loves June deeply, he has experiences overseas which lead him to believe that he isn’t worthy of her. Without warning Evan sends June divorce papers via his mother and June feels compelled to sign. Years pass and Evan winds up working for June’s cousin doing security in June’s hometown. When June runs into some issues with an ex-boyfriend, Evan is assigned to guard her and the two are forced to reconnect.
Reynolds writes romance beautifully and I really loved the first half of this book. Evan is a great hero who, while damaged, isn’t scary or beyond redemption. His decision to win back June and “love her enough for both of them” had me cheering for him. I think June approaches her revived relationship with Evan in a sane way, she is careful but open to being in love again. The chemistry between the two nearly flies off of the page, and I raced through the early chapters detailing their rekindling romance. I liked June as a character more than her sister July in the previous book, she isn’t quite as flaky and seemed to have her head on a little straighter than a lot of heroines, despite always losing her phone and forgetting to lock her door.Read more ›
I loved this book, its another wonderful addition to the Until series.
This is a wonderful alpha male/motorcycle club/ex-soldier possessive second-chance love story!
Whew.....it hits a lot of different categories, but it is sooo good!
"Don't take a moment for granted, just because you think you'll have a thousand more."
Evan and June's story is standalone, even though it is part of a series. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but after reading this on, I plan to very soon!
HEA with epilogue
Evan never forgot his ex-wife June. When he came to town for a new job and realized he was working with June’s family, he at first stays away but he soon can’t. When June is in danger, he immediately goes to her and puts himself in her life, no matter that she doesn’t want him there. The anger and passion that June feels for him is so deep. She doesn’t want him anywhere around her because of the past is evident but Evan stays…He doesn’t allow her to push him away and soon that anger turns to passion and that passion allows them to work on the past. They both open up and speak of things from yesteryear ; Things that were needed said were said and soon Evan and June are right back to were they used to be-joined at the hip and starry-eyed. But they still have to face her family and face the danger that she has coming at her.Read more ›
I did not like this book. It was not for me at all. Now that being said I did not know this when I started this book. I went into the book with big hopes. I did, and still do, love the original Until series. It was one of my favorite reads and I have reread them and still enjoy them. This book will not be a reread for me.
What did not work for me the way that the story progressed. I thought that June forgave Evan way to soon. I can understand why she did it, hello he's her boom, but it just felt like there was all this time and all these chances in between then and now and he didn't do anything. Though I give props to Evan for not being with anyone else while they weren't together. then again at the same time part of me thinks that he brought that on upon himself and it was a situation that didn't have to be.
What I didn't like what how there would be gaps in time during a day and then we would cut into a scene that started with them having sex. Now don't get me wrong I love a good sex scene but cutting in when the action is already started isn't my preference. Now if that had happened once or twice I would have overlooked it and just enjoyed it for what it was. But it was five or six times and that just got old real fast. there was actually a lot of sex in the book but it just started to get to a point where it was stale, boring and aggravating cause it was such a frequent occurrence. I felt like there were other things that could have happened. Which brings me to my next point.Read more ›
