Though not without its struggles, the commitment of Declan and Makeba to their relationship is profound. And what we all wouldn't do to have a Granny Whitaker in our lives???!!!!!
Though there were a few typos, the book was well written. Most surprising to me is that I didn't expect to experience the amount of joy, sadness, the anger that I felt reading this story. Read this story. Enjoy it. Savor it. Most of all make sure that you have plenty of tissue available, you for sure will need them.
This is my first book by this author, but I can guarantee, it will not be my last. Well done Ms. Barber and thank you so much for the book. I absolutely loved it and appreciated the care that you took with each of your characters....
A story with so many obstacles that stand in the way of true love, it truly doesn't matter who you fall in love with, if it was meant to be it was, the loved they shared is remarkable thru the test of time true love does exist, and oh my I loved Granny Whitaker, she is awesome my heart broke after hearing everything she endured growing up, I am thankful she shared her secrets with Makeba, the bond they shared irreplaceable.
I loved the love that Declan and Makeba shared. It was truly beautiful. At times Makeba was weak and would have lost Declan if he wasn't so strong and was determined to hold on to Makeba and what they had.
Granny Whitaker was a saving grace as was Makeba's mother. Both women taught Makeba what it meant to love and not give up but learn to forgive.
Their was growth with many of the characters. They learned that you cannot hate someone because of their skin color.
I wish the author had given a better description of how the :/ looked and how the babies looked. Also what was the age of Declan and Makeba?
Please give us a story about Sam and Rasheeda!!
