UNTIL US is the prequel to The Black Harts MC series and takes place twenty-five years prior to the first book in the series, The Broken In Us. It is a short novella that packs a lot into its short pages. The story is in first person narrative and the chapters switch between Stone and Madison easily. While we don't get a lot of backstory we get enough that we can see why both characters have turned out the way they have. The alpha here and virgin heroine is a familiar trope that either most people love or hate. I happen to love my innocent heroines for some reason and it never gets old to me. I am a sucker for an alpha male and a sweet innocent heroine and this story doesn't disappoint in this aspect. All in all I am looking forward to see how this series progresses as I really enjoyed reading the prequel.
It's a short novella and easy to read. We are introduced to Stone Hart, the president of the Black Harts MC, Axel, the Vice President and Best friend of Stone, and Maddie, the daughter of Axel.
After a traumatic confrontation, Stone heads to the cemetery to visit with his late sisters grave, while their he comes across Maddie as she visits her mothers grave. Both have longed for one another from a distance and after this night, things will never be the same.
Truths come out, emotions are laid bare, resolve gets tested. This book is full of tension and angst and very good reasons why Stone and Maddie should not be together, however, we also explore the simple beauty of someone knowing you inside and out and how 2 people are just built for the other.
This made for a good introduction to the story and I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
I was put off just because of their relationship. I found it a little creepy. Madison called him her uncle all her life, and while not biologically her relative, I just had a difficult time with the relationship foundation. Like I said, this was an easy and fast read. I couldn’t get a connection with this book. Normally I am not so judgmental of relationships in a story line. In fact, this will be the first I have negatively commented on. However, I have to be honest, and I was turned off pretty much from the beginning. I couldn’t rally a connection, I was very disengaged, I didn’t FEEL anything with the characters, content, storyline or anything really, and it was just an okay read for me. If there are others to come in this series and it is primarily written with this as the foundation, I would not read any further.
This author has done a great job in writing this story, and I was hooked and intrigued throughout by this sweet and sexy romance. I look forward to reading more of this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book!
I enjoyed the writing, I just wish there was a bit more build-up.
Stone went from a complete douche to this big romantic over night. I just couldnt get his character to flow well. Even though there was hints that he was into her before this, just never did anything because of who she is.
Maddys side was totally believable though, I loved her, and seeing her go from this massive crush to getting this dude was fun.
I definitely wouldn't mind sinking farther into this world and reading more from this Author!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review!
