Susan Fuller is a bear shifter who is heading to Vermont due to a war with the felines. She is heading to see Sebastian Black the bear shifter we met in book one, the shifter who lives off the land and stays away from everyone. Sebastian has no idea that the pest he called Bug was heading to him and would change his life forever.
At the age of eight Susan fell in love with Sebastian and it was a love that never stopped. When he was twenty-three he asked Susan’s older sister Mary Beth to marry him and although she was only fifteen at the time it broke her heart. Determined to stop the marriage she sent photos of Mary Beth and Sebastian’s brother Christian having sex only she could never have expected his reaction. Sebastian left heartbroken and for ten years he never returned. Now the pest who always interferred in his relationship with Mary Beth is heading his way.
When Susan approaches the shack that Sebastian calls home he comes out charging at her in bear form, she knows immediately that it is Sebastian and approaches him with a smack to his nose and the hands on her hips yelling at him to behave. Sebastian is shocked to see the little girl who once annoyed him had grown up and she was quite an eye full. Susan explains the reason for her arrival and the fact that the war broke out because of his brother Christian. Christian was blamed for the death of a pregnant feline female and her mate something he vowed was not his doing. After being attacked it is believed Christian is dead which is far from the truth but it didn’t stop the felines from retaliating killing bear shifter females.
Christian and Mary Beth’s marriage was a sham and filled with cheating and hatred. Sebastian has refused to ever return home in spite of the fact that the family home and property once promised to Christian as the oldest was left to him, but he has no intention of returning even for that. Little by little Susan begins to bring joy to Sebastian’s life, he is smiling, laughing and even making snow angels. For the first time in ten years he feels happy and he knows that Susan is the one responsible for that. He doesn’t want to return home but can he convince Susan to stay with him.
My second visit to Malsum Pass was just as wonderful as my first and I can’t wait for more. The series does not have to be read in order but why miss out on some great reading. A lot happens between Sebastian and Susan but I am not going to reveal anything because it has to be read to truly appreciate it. There is sex, betrayal and a past filled with hurt that may or may not be rectified. Don’t miss this series it is well worth your time and money.
The Malsum Pass series is about shifters but they noty only overlap characters to keep them tied together but Kimberly has been able to branch out with multiple kinds of shifters that normally you would not see together. She touches on topics that I have not seen in other shifter stories and her books are hard to put down.
I highly recommend Kimberly Forrest's books to any and all PNR lovers and Romance lovers alike.
