The mayhem inflicted upon obstacles the Callahan family encountered was mind blowing. Their displays of indifference and callousness in eliminating problems/people became hauntingly astounding. What was more unsettling was my acceptance to the way they lived their life at the expense of others.
Melody and Liam are two anti-heroes who I have a growing compassion for which continues to astonish me. If you had to pick where they hail from, it would be hades rather than heaven. Amazingly, the further the story goes, the more their journey becomes a destiny of survival rather than an ambitious climb to power. Neither chose to hold the roles they have been given in their families, but they don’t cower from the responsibilities their roles demand.
So given I concede they have no option to survive, therein lies my hope of a sliver of light in their dark tale. The added complications of the legacy of Melody’s family have added a twist to the plot creating a whirlwind of suspense.
Just who are out of reach and untouchable is questionable. Instability, doubt and questionable loyalty among the families surfaced which left me desperate to start the next book in the series. The suspense was taken to a new level with the revelation of multiple characters yielding the power to manipulate others and I have no idea how they are going to reunite the remnants considering what transpired in this book!
Having recently read RP1 it was great to be able to jump right in with out missing a single beat down. I'm still loving the different POV and inner dialogue, which adds, in my opinion, a unique quality to the story and how it unfolds. It definitely keeps you on your toes.
JJ McAvoy has you laughing your ass off one minute, swooning in your next breath and seconds later saying Oh no she didn't!!
Family means everything to a Callahan (Giovanni-Callahan). A tad bit over the top crazy as hell while protecting their family. But hey who's judging?? After all they are the 'good' criminals. They only take what is theirs, sell only to those who want it and kill those deserving...for the most part, but never on Sunday.
You'll get a peek into the lives of a few of the Callahan Clan...even the 'good' criminals have tender moments.
Closing with an Oh Hell moment. You just messed with the wrong family. Be ready I have a feeling Bloody Melody is going to be in Full Effect BadAss-KickAss mode in RP3.
Can't Freakin' Wait!!
I like and don't like that it's so many different pov,
why? Because I like to know everyone's motives and feelings and all but don't like because
I never know who's next and then it's from this to that.
But still I like that she did that!
It's so much drama but also many sexy times.
One thingy that I can't seem to get past is that
they always want to kill their own brothers or parents..
I know it's maffia but normally family is very high for
them and here it doesn't always seem that way.
And that just bothers me a bit.
Ok so I'm obsessed with Melody and Liam. This story was so good. Twisty and turny, and so many things made me smile and laugh. A few things made me cry. So many things made me want to punch some of the characters. Ugh. I'm so angry. Ok on to the next one.
Yes I realize this review is awful, but if you like mafia books with lots of gore, a bit of camp, a bad ass heroine, and a bad ass hero... then this is your story.
