His by Law ~ Sue Lyndon:
Due to a unfortunate incident, Lucia finds herself stranded & homeless in a small town trying to survive by doing any type of honest work she can find to keep her out of the evil hands of the resident madam who wants Lucia for her stable of girls by any means necessary. Late one night cold, weary, and desparate, she makes a decision that will change her life forever!!
Lucia trespasses into the home of a stranger to warm herself just for a little while, at least thats what she tells herself, but she ends up getting more than she bargained for. This particular home belongs to Jackson McNabe, a wealthy bachelor who is in need of a wife and has been having difficulty in finding one due to his special requirements sexually in obedience. Jackson is a dominant and from the moment he catches the beautiful Lucia in his home, he decides she has the potential to be the wife that he always wanted. With no family or nowhere else to go, Lucia agrees to Jackson's offer. However, something evil is stalking the couple determined to destroy them. Will Lucia and Jackson conquer the evil threatening their marriage and find the love they have always dreamed of?
Sue Lyndon is a great writer and Jackson is a hot, sexy, alpha who may come across as a hard man, but deep down he is a man who will love and cherish you forever!!
The Christmas Fig ~ Ava Sinclair
This is an interesting tale centering around the couple Millicent and Edward Hargrove. Millicent is a rather spoiled lady who has no patience at all, especially when it comes to seeing the contents of gifts from her husband. Edward adores his wife and loves to indulge her whenever he wants, but he is also somewhat strict and warns Millicent about the consequences of peeking at her gifts.
But Millicent can't help herself, so she disobeys Edward and unwraps her gifts to take a look. When Edward finds out, he decides that she deserves more than just the usual punishment of a spanking. He introduces her to the practice of "figging" with the hope that this type of punishment will ensure Millicent's obedience in the future. Does Millicent learn her lesson? Does she redeem herself? Will Edward be able to forgive and trust her again?
A classic Ava Sinclair victorian story about correction and obedience. Edward is a sexy, loving, husband who is very patient with Millicent in all things until she disobeys. Then, his dominant nature takes over and...well, you can imagine!! <sigh>
Mistletoe Marriage ~ Vanessa Vale
Julia Belmont is the town's school teacher and Garrett Rivers is the man she loves and hopes to marry one day. Garrett wanted Julia from the moment he first saw her, so he started courting her. During the courtship, Garrett takes things slow and prepares Julia for the marriage bed with alot of hot dirty talk that has her eager to experience everything he has told her!!
But when Garrett goes out of town, a rival forces Julia into a sham of a marriage for his own vengeful purposes. When Garret hears what has happened and that the man involved is actually a dangerous criminal, he races home accompanied by a lawman who has been tracking him. Does Garrett arrive in time to save Julia? Does she finally experience the pleasures of the marriage bed promised her by Garrett and have the HEA she always dreamed of?
Vanessa Vale is an amazing author and her Montana Maidens & Bridgewater Brides Series are phenomenal! Vanessa has the ability to romance you while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Garrett was a true alpha hero because he loved Julia more than life itself and nothing or no one was going to stand in his way when it came to her!
His by Law, by Sue Lyndon, features Lucia and Jackson. It is set in the future with conditions that are reminiscent of 18th century England, Lucia's life turned upside down and left her alone and penniless; otherwise, she would not have snuck in to warm up in front of the fire she has spied through the window. Jackson needs a wife but never expected to find one right in front of his fireplace. Jackson intends to make her his wife as soon as possible, but that doesn't mean that he will be able to accomplish his goal.
In The Christmas Fig: A Tale of Victorian Correction, by Ava Sinclair, Millicent learns that it is always best for a Victorian lady to resist temptation and learn to do exactly what her husband tells her instead of listening to a friend. Edward knew that he'd have to take a firm hand with his bride, and while he didn't really expect to need the knowledge, he was glad that he had learned about figging when a little extra punishment becomes necessary.
Can a marriage be legal if the bride does not consent? In Vanessa Vale's Mistletoe Marriage, set in Montana Territory, it seems that the sheriff/justice of the peace is not too worried about a little detail like a bride's refusal to say her wedding vows. Julia is in love with Garrett, but when he's away visiting his sister, things get out of hand, and she ends up married to someone else. Julia's reputation is in tatters, and it seems unlikely that it will be restored. What can a man in love do?
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a new one for me. Set in London the plot is well done and in many ways more than about just the “fig” but about learning to think more about others than you do yourself. Ms. Sinclair has done a really good job mixing those things and making you think while doing so. This has a great message that while surprised me, it was a definite bonus.
Wow. I’m a huge fan of Ms. Vale’s work and this one has left no surprise as to why. It’s hot and so full that you will hardly believe it’s a novella. If there is one complaint to be had it’s only that it’s so short. That said the details are deliciously wicked and will definitely leave you wanting a Mistletoe Marriage.
