I am a meat cutter at a retail grocery store. I cut everything from pork loins to beef ribeye. I write this review after one week of use. First off the blade arrived with an irregular grind on it and not sharp enough to use at work. After sharpening it on my Edgepro I was able to bring it up to a wicked hair whittling edge, The knife handle had some rough sharp edges where the molded handle came together, I was able to sand these off. The band of the knife, the spine, has sharp edges but they don't bother these calloused hands much. All in all it is a great buy for the price, around 14$. It would be great to use at home for butchering.

This knife can be a great addition to any Chef, knife block or kitchen. Initially I had reservations due to the very low price tag. I am happy to say that I would buy this knife again if I ever needed to which seems unlikely based on this knifes quality. The blade is sturdy and very sharp with just a little flex if you need it. I have owned this for about six months and haven't had to sharpen it yet. Cut the back out of a chicken? No Problem. Cut a rack of ribs in half to fit the smoker? No Problem. Trim up a steak? Do I need to say it? Overall this knife deserves its five star rating.

One thing to note and watch out for is that the back of the knife has very precise 90 degree corners and is not rounded off. This caused me a little trouble when cutting with my index finger on the back of the blade. I got a couple little cuts on my finger before I gave it a couple of passes with a sharpening stone. (or dulling stone in this instance) After that I haven't had any issues.

I am writing this review as I just found and purchased the Update International 10 inch Cooks knife which I believe will be another excellent addition to my kitchen for just about the same low price.
Update International KP-09 High Carbon Stainless Steel Cooks Knife, 10-Inch
The 10 inch Cooks knife has no reviews yet but I will add one once I have had a chance to put it to the test.

You don't have to take my word for it. Throw down that fifteen bucks and get one for yourself. You will not regret it.

I got this knife for filleting big salmon. Living in Alaska, it should get a good workout this summer. It was sharp enough to use out of the box. It could easily cut newspaper slivers but I sharpened it up more. It is around the right size for reds, silvers and all but the largest kings. I already have fillet knives this size but since they have thinner blades, they tend to be more flexible. This should be ideal size and flexibility for taking a whole fillet with one stroke. Only downside is finding a cover. Made in China. This is a stamped blade.

I bought this to use with my new Smoker. It works absolutely great. The handle fits my large hands very well. The blade is strong and was sharp from the factory. Easy to clean and just the right size.

For the price - you can't go wrong - this knife holds up to some of my $100+ knives. And, as my finger can demonstrate, it is incredibly sharp!

Cuts meat like a charm. Perfect size for good size chops, rounds and breaking down quarters. Processed an elk with it and have used this model as a meat cutter for beef, pork, chicken and lamb.

As a side note, if you're one of those people to buy complete sets of knives made in Germany from big box stores, you're doing it wrong. Get the right tool for the job. If you work with meat a fair amount, you understand. A boning, butcher and scimitar are the essentials. Cleavers and saws are great help for the tasty steak cuts. Beyond that in the home kitchen, a SINGLE serrated edge (for tomatoes, basically), a chefs knife and a paring knife are about it. That's six pieces, tops, excluding the cleaver/saw (because honestly, how many of you really break down whole animals?). Going for the 12, 20, 36 piece set...you're just getting bowled over by the sales pitch. Questioning the quality of the steel? I'll tell you that a whole day of splitting chicken halves, over 300 or more, this knife holds up just fine. Spine doesn't mar with blunt impact and the edge keeps for every 30-40; simply hone it and back to work. Handle feels quite comfortable in the cut glove/latex combo. Albeit, usually don't wear the cut glove in the action hand, just the maneuvering hand.

Hope you reason the same. Enjoy your cuts!

This knife is not just good for the price this is actually a very nice knife. As other reviews said you will need to take a file or sharpening stone to the spine as it is a very fine polished 90 degree angle and could cut you. That Is really the only flaw with this knife. Very sharp blades it of the box even compared to my nice knives. Great for breaking down whole animals

I am a meat cutter and was looking to buy new knives at work. I came across this knife and was very skeptical at the price. It has raving reviews but I'm sure they are from people occasionally using it in their home. But I figured at that price ill try it out and if dont like it I wont lose very much. Well I have to say this is a great knife so far. I'm very curious how it will do when it is time to resharpen it. I would definitely recommend this knife to people using it at home. But I would also recommend it to people that will be using it for 8 hours a day at work. I prefer it over the much more expensive dexters that my work provides. UPDATE: so I've been using the knife for 8 months. I used it 40 hours a week. I'm still very impressed with the knife. It resharpens very easily. The only complaint I have is the handle is slippery and I have to wrap a piece of cloth around the handle so my hand doesn't slide up the blade.
