I really like this juicer. I’ve used juicers in the past that grated up the fruits / vegetables and then used a centrifuge and a screen to separate the juice from the pulp. This one has an augur with a screen. The motor drive is powerful enough that it handled raw carrots with ease. The augur bites off chunks and then chews up the plant material. It’s powerful drive presses the crushed food into a very fine screen which allow the juice (and virtually NO pulp) to flow into the juice tank. The pressed out pulp (comes out quite dry) is pushed out into a separate tank. The juice comes out a bit foamy, but they’ve provided a plastic insert that skims off the foam and give you clear delicious juice. I tried apples and the juice was as good as any fresh-pressed ciders from the apple orchards we frequented when our kids were young. I mixed apples with carrots and the result was amazing! The clean-up was simple—especially with the included brush (reminded me of a large toothbrush) for cleaning the screen. This machine was slow and steady, but the results were worth it.

This is the third juicer I’ve bought in the last few months. The first one kept making a slurry that would block juice flow. The second would wobble and strain so much I thought it was going to break and the extruded part was still rather “juicy”. This one I’m keeping. In my opinion, a good test of a juicer is how well it can handle celery and this one chews it up and puts out dry pellets no problem. One of my previous juicers would just clog up and not extrude as it should. I bought the KOIOS brand because I already own their hand blender and it’s been working great. I’m not exactly sure of what the updates are for the 2020 model but what I noticed is this auger has some notches on the lower portion (see photo) that I didn’t have on my other juicers. I think this really helps grab and chew fruit/veggies at the initial stage. Another difference from other juicers is the strainer insert has 3 areas of progressively larger holes. Seems like this prevents clogging and keeps the juice flowing.

Design flaw, manufacture defect, broken parts.

After just 2 1/2 month of infrequent use the plastic housing of the filter that the auger juices against has broken and there are several cracks implicating future broken pieces. This is a major design flaw and makes the product not worth buying. Plus the phone number for support that is listed with Amazon for KOIOS beginning in 855, does not ring to any customer service number and is some type of rebate offer to who knows what which is lowering this company to the level of a scam. Save your time and money and buy different juicer!
