This is by far my favorite book, character wise. Bree’s raging paranoia makes perfect sense this time around and there was a surprisingly small amount of whining from our girl (and I mean that with absolute love). I have always like Bree best when she’s on her own and the two year hiatus from the Lucky 13’s dynamics have done her a lot of good. She’s grown up, learned to stop and think (ok, “learned to try to remember to stop and think” might be more accurate) but don’t worry, she’ll never be boring. Several times I laughed out loud with the conversations and despite Bree’s feelings on the subject, she’s funnier on Glimmer than she’ll ever be sober.
On its face, this story is a rescue mission but there’s plenty more to unpack and hints about the future for the Bree, Nate, the remainder of Lucky 13 and the scavengers as a whole. I’m hoping for another crusade, personally.
In this Green Fields #10, we find out, and its awesome!!!
For the breakdown of Uprising without "Spoilers" This one may be my favorite. It was great seeing the gang once more together. I have missed the lucky thirteens antics. This one had a bit more emotional drama ingrained in it. Although The author never ventured away from her writing style or flavor of the characters. She Gives you what you are expecting, lots of action, tension, hardship, intensity, but what she gives us more of this time around is " passion". I have always wanted a little more meat on the bone when it came to Bree & Nates physical relationship, not just fade out "next scene"! So thank you Adrienne, I think it added more intensity and softness we don't get to see too often & done very tastefully in true Bree & Nate fashion!
This is the first review I have given throughout this series, shame on me for not doing so sooner. I have a request for the author, as much as I love Bree's narrative, I think it would be refreshing to get a perspective on any number of the gangs thoughts and stories. Plus it would would open up a much wider scope for more Green Field books!
Thank you Adrienne for providing entertaining reading that has plenty of pages to sink my teeth into.
A big fan
