From the Publisher
This is the only version of The Urantia Book to include a comprehensive index. Similar indexes have sold separately for $19.95. This version also features a beautiful cover, a double column format for ease of reading and a universal (Paper, Section and Paragraph) referencing system to help locate favorite passages.
From the Inside Flap
"There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving!" (The Urantia Book, p. 312)
The Urantia Book presents comprehensive answers to age-old questions about the nature and personality of God, the life and teachings of Jesus, the relationship between science and religion, spiritual living, and much more. It describes a near infinite universe containing millions of inhabited worlds similar to Urantia (the universe name of our planet earth), each lovingly fostered by a vast host of celestial personalities.
The Urantia Book reveals God as our loving Parent, one who cherishes each of us with an affection that surpasses human understanding. Gods spirit indwells us, inspiring us with intelligent faith as we face the manifold problems of earthly existence. After this life, we continue our spiritual ascent until, in the far-distant future, our perfected souls find God in person on Paradise.
Is the Urantia Book a revelation?
Almost nothing is known about how The Urantia Book came to be written. What can be said is that it presents a philosophy of spiritual living that integrates and unifies all aspects of human existence to a degree far exceeding anything previously available. Thousands upon thousands of individuals have concluded that its qualities of thought and expression are beyond the power of human invention.
Decide for yourself whether The Urantia Book is a genuine revelation, as it claims, or merely an inspired work of fiction. Whatever you conclude, this account of the history of the universe, the evolution of humankind, and Gods plan for our eternal careers is likely to transform your life and your understanding of the world around you.
"What a mistake to dream of God far off in the skies when the spirit of the Universal Father lives within your own mind!" (The Urantia Book, p. 55)

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Also, the audio CD, previously included in the former Amazon listing, has been replaced. There is now a scan able code on the dust jacket that will give you access to a downloadable audio file for your convenience. Better, because you can save the file to a thumb drive, and format your own cds.
The 300 page Index is an incredibly helpful inclusion for everyone - casual readers and confirmed believers alike.
Despite some reviewers' complaint about he numbering system used in the Index - it actually is easy to understand...
For example, 31.7.4 indicates:
Paper #31 (The Corps of Finality)
Chapter #7 (The Evangels of Light)
Verse #4 ("We of Uversa often conjecture...")
The hardcover binding is very substantial, the text "bleed-through" (visibility of text on the other side of a page) is so light that it isn't a distraction...even for me ;-)
I appreciate this hardcover edition a lot. The book is over 2,000 pages long. My paperback editions have usually been ready to retire after 4-5 years' use. Trusted sources have told me the hardbound edition promises at least double that useful lifespan.
The dust jacket is gorgeous (Of Note: Amazon's packaging of my order was insufficient - the book arrived with several bent areas along the dust jacket's edges. However, with their usual excellent integrity, Amazon immediately rectified the problem.)
The content of this 5th Epochal Revelation is "thick with meaning" - yet its spiritual value and nourishment is well worth careful, conscious, open-minded reading.
Hint: it really helps to have a dictionary and a Urantia Book Glossary (easily found online) at-hand when reading.
For new readers, it's often suggested to start with Part IV, The Life and Teachings of Jesus - befote reading the book from beginning to end. I agree, it really helped me to have a substantially accurate perspective when I first started eading the whole book front to back.
Now, there are theological differences between the various established Christian denominations and the Urantia Book.
The most significant difference is in paradigms: Christianity is a religion about Jesus. The Urantia Book is about the religion °OF° Jesus.
For this reason alone, many folks find resolving apparent discrepancies easier than anticipated. As an orthodox Roman Catholic, this has been my happy experience.
Finally, yes - the Urantia Book is one of my most beloved spiritual literatures.
And no -I don't work for the book's publishers.
May you be blessed in your journey toward God!
Love the new cover! The index in the back of this version is so very helpful! There is no need for lugging around a concordance - which never really did much for me anyway, although some readers swear by it. I like having a good index contained within the covers of one book. I can take it with me to read wherever I go and still easily consult other sections of the book.
If you're new to the UB, rather than reading from the beginning, I would recommend that you either 1.) peruse the table of contents to find a topic of interest or 2.) simply open the book anywhere and read. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
