Editorial Reviews

The 4 US services deploy more than 5,000 front-line aircraft and 3,000 helicopters. Their units serve in more than 20 allied countries. This DVD tells the full story of this amazing war machine. Superb color film - much of it specially de-classified for this program - looks at all the major aircraft, helicopters, transports, and weaponry. Throughout, the emphasis is on action, with much of the footage taken during training exercises and combat simulations. The program encapsulates the organization of America' aerial fighting might and has a detailed script by leading aviation authority Bill Gunston.

Bought this at the Dubai International Airport, and let me issue a warning first: This DVD is NOT brand new. It looks like it was made in the late 80s, based on the narration, and information provided based on the numbers and types of aircrafts presented in the video.

Because of this, the footages are mostly old, and some covering the US Space Command were even 60s or 70s footages!

It also looks like the video was trasferred from an old format, I would guess VHS format transferred to DVD, hence the quality of the video themselves are not DVD quality.

I had no problems if the manufacturer of this video had been honest enough to write on the box that the video was made in the late 80s, so we at least know what we are getting first hand. But they didn't, and most buyers will assume the video shows the current status (as in at least 2009) of US Air Power. It does not. It shows US Air Power in the late 80s.

The only think that kept me from giving it the lowest rating, is that it does give us a rare, good look at how the US Air Power was in the decade it was made.

It is a good video, just OLD. If you don't mind getting an old video to give you an idea how US Air Power was about 25 years ago, then this is a good video to have, if only for the sake of nostalgia.
