SCT-Orange LensUvex proprietary Spectrum Control Technology (SCT) absorbs 99.8% of blue light wavelengths, as well as violet and green wavelengths. Clear “blue light blocking lenses” only filter about 5-10% of blue light, making them much less effective than our SCT-Orange Lens for viewing laptops, computers, tablets, smart phones, gaming consoles etc. |
Protects Your EyesProlonged exposure to blue light not only causes eye fatigue, it can also contribute to cataracts and other forms of macular degeneration. This is especially true in dark environments like when you're working at night. The Ultra-Spec 2000 SCT-Orange Lens helps inhibit these degenerative processes. |
Improved Contrast = Better FocusThe Ultra-Spec 2000 SCT-Orange Lens allows you to see more screen contrast with sharper details. This means your eyes don't have to work as hard, which reduces eye strain so you can work longer & more comfortably. |

Better SleepArtificial blue light can suppress melatonin production, disrupting your biological clock and impacting your sleep cycle. Uvex Ultra-Spec 2000 Blue Light Blocking Computer Glasses will allow your body to create the melatonin it needs, resulting in a better night’s sleep. |
Vented Side ShieldsIt's important to be comfortable while working, gaming or just surfing the internet. The Ultra-Spec 2000 model features vented side shields to ensure proper air flow and longwearing comfort. |
Extra Blue Light ProtectionArtificial blue light wavelengths can still reach your eyes peripherally, like when you turn your head slightly away from the laptop screen. Ultra-Spec 2000 glasses feature a wraparound uni-lens style with side shields to filter this blue light out. |

Product Description
Product Description
Ultra-Spec 2000 Blue Light Blocking Computer Glasses are designed to reduce eye strain and promote better overall eye health. Extended exposure to blue light from electronic devices can cause eye fatigue and contribute to the formation of cataracts and other forms of macular degeneration. The Ultra-Spec 2000 SCT-Orange Lens helps prevent this by filtering out 99.8% of blue light wavelengths that emanate from laptops, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles etc. The lens also lets you see more screen contrast and sharper detail, which in turn reduces eye strain and improves your focus. Blue light can also suppress melatonin production, resulting in disrupted sleep patterns. The Ultra-Spec 2000 Glasses will help counter this effect. The model features a lightweight design for extended comfort while working or gaming. Vented side shields are also present to help filter out peripheral blue light.

It is sold as a UV blocker; it claims to block 99.9% of UV-A,UV-B, and UV-C. I can't evaluate that. But I can verify that it is an EXTREMELY effective blocker of blue light. (Science note: UV, or ultraviolet, is right next to blue on the light spectrum, so something that blocks UV will probably also block a lot of blue.)
As a blue-blocker, these glasses are extremely effective. My cable box has blue LEDs. At night, normally I can see those LEDs with no trouble. Wearing these glasses, I can barely see that the cable box is on!!! My cable remote is the same; it has blue backlighting that I can't see at all when I have these glasses on. I have a blue terrycloth towel in the bathroom. During the day, with all the lights on, this blue towel looks *completely* gray when I'm wearing these glasses! White walls look yellow. Many other colors look almost normal (almost).
Why would anyone want glasses like these? Because they might help you sleep better. Scientists have shown that in your retina (the light-sensing surface inside your eyes) there are not only "rods" (to sense overall light) and "cones" (to sense red, green, and blue light for normal color vision), but also a fifth type of sensor designed to tell the daily-rhythm part of your brain when it's daytime. Those special sensors are at the upper corners of your visual field -- exactly where you would expect blue light from the sky to come in. Scientists believe (this is true! I teach biological psychology!) that your daily (circadian) rhythm is reset every day (this is normal) so that your body's chemical rhythms are in synch with the light and dark cycles of your environment.
And so? Well, your computer monitors and your smartphone screens all have lots of blue light. If you spend a lot of time looking at such screens after the sun sets, you may be "telling" your brain that it's still daylight out, and your chemical rhythms will tell you that it's not time to go to sleep yet.
I wear these glasses after dark so that, I hope, it will be easier for me to fall asleep and stay asleep, even if I spend time looking at the various screens in my life. I canNOT yet give a testimonial about whether this has worked well for me (it's only been 2 weeks), and of course I canNOT make any prediction about whether it will work for you. But I can DEFINITELY say that these glasses cut out all or almost all of the blue light that, scientists suspect, may interfere with people's circadian rhythms.
These glasses fit over your regular glasses, and they wrap around to filter light coming in from almost all angles (i.e., the top and side gaps that normal glasses have). I like these glasses better than the ones (sold by the same manufacturer) that do not wrap around (Uvex S1933X Skyper Safety Eyewear, Black Frame, SCT-Orange UV Extreme Anti-Fog Lens). Light at the upper corners of your peripheral vision is the light most likely to hit those special skylight-sensing retina cells, so these wraparound glasses should be better at blocking that light.
And at this price, who can resist? Others sell blue-blockers for Official BluBlocker Eagle Sunglasses times as much. This company just wants to sell an excellent product at a fair profit. Highly recommended!
Not only are they good safety glasses, they are also effective for using for help with insomnia (this is based on actual scientific research, and based on my own experience with these orange glasses). They block blue light really well, but still are bright and easy to see through- at night even when I'm driving! I'm a night owl- and have a very difficult time getting to sleep before 1am, but need to get to sleep earlier so I can get enough sleep to function and to get up for work! All the meds I was being given to get to sleep and to stay awake during the day- were hard on my body so I did some research and found a book called "Chronotherapy - Resetting your Inner Clock to Boost Mood, Alterness, and Quality Sleep", by Dr. Michael Terman, Dirctor Center for LIght Treatment and Biological Rythms, Columbia University Medical CenteR (for sale on Amazon too!). After reading the book, I bought these glasses (along with a SunTouch light, a PHillips sunrise light, and a light switch auto timer, and also a darker pair of orange sunglasses so I can watch some tv and use my computer at night. All of these items are available on Amazon! Of course!) So I started wearing these orange glasses at around 6pm...which according to the expert who wrote the book -they block blue light which lets your body start to naturally produce melatonin in small amounts, which gradually helps you to get sleepy, and to stay asleep better at night (if you sleep in a very dark room)! Using these glasses in concert with the lights in the morning- worked almost right away! I now wake up naturally at around 6am, and get sleepy at around 9-10pm! This is nothing short of a miracle - because I have always been a night owl my entire life! The lights in the morning help me wake up naturally, and give me energy! So - these glasses, have been a God-send, and have really made a difference for me!

In an evening I put these on about 9pm and when I go to bed about 11pm I go straight to sleep.
They block out the blue light emitted from TV screens, tablets, smartphones and LED lighting.
