I bought some of these in several sizes recently because every time I'd key my mike on my HAM radio, the program running the radio would stop and the USB cable software (FTDI) would crap out/disconnect. I'd unplug the USB cable, reboot the radio, everything would work fine. I'd recently added an Elecraft W2 wattmeter and another Elecraft USB cable when the problem started.
I got to thinking - not for long - about stray RF on my desk and noticed my iMic adapter had a toroid RF choke on it.
Hmm...
I got these and some 5mm ones (ten to a pack) and put them on all the cables from everything on the desk - and no more crashing on transmit.
Cheap insurance. Turns out several companies already make cables like that so I bought a few.

These suppressors are simple, effective, and fit comfortably on many different cables. I originally bought these to add one onto the power cable of a cheap FM adapter I use in my car. I noticed when I first got the adapter that it was emitting signal noise from the car's alternator and snapping one of these on the adapter's power cable cut the noise out entirely. These suppressors turned my $5 adapter into a $20 adapter in terms of audio quality! I also use one on the headphone cable on my SEGA CD game system and it keeps the audio super clean.

I ordered these because I only needed a few more ferrite cores for some USB cables. I've used other kinds (BlueCell, AUCH) of ferrite cores in the past and feel like these are not as well made. The plastic friction tabs seem to be more brittle than those made by other manufacturers. Despite that, they are still a decent value and perform well, so they are deserving of a three-star review.

I bought these for a set of older Creative I-Trigue 3300 speakers. I get buzzing from my phone (T-Mobile) a lot and have to keep my phone at least 2-3 feet away. I bought these in hopes that the interference would go away. After installing it I would still get the feedback. However, it could be just my carrier or the speakers themselves creating this issue. As for the product, the suppressors are built well. Solid items. I'm sure they may work for a lot of people, but weren't effective in my case.

Using to hopefully cut down on RFI from HAM radio in the shack. I'm getting RF into my computer.

I bought this product so that I could have my phone near my desk without all the speaker feedback. They mostly work. My cell carrier is Verizon and I noticed that LTE signals still go through the wire. Overall, these noise suppressors block out the other signals going to my speakers. It seems to work for the ATT signals. My colleague's phone no longer tries to talk to my desk speakers.

Very well for my purposes. I got these to kill some noise on some surround speakers that had a noticeable hum to them. Wrapped the cord around one of these on each side and all is clear once again. I have not been able to trace down the source of this hum, but now I am not reminded of that source during movie night. Would recommend for others having such issues.

Doesn't do anything - I bought these for my home office to prevent interference on my speakers when my cell phone is (doing whatever it does). It seemed like maybe it worked long enough for me to keep them, but now it's like nothing is there at all.

Noise Reduction Applications
Reviewed in Canada on December 14, 2016Verified Purchase
Typically you would use these beads to lower computer noise on a cable. Most folks would not know, but in some computer applications like driving an SDR it can be important. The computer is a very electronically noisy device and an SDR is quite sensitive. They are connected by a USB A/B cable and often it also injects this noisy broad band garbage into the radio. You can see it on the spectrum display. These beads help isolate the two devices.
1/4" cable is too big. They fit 3/16" cable (about 8 mm) quite snugly. The advertising says 5 mm but I'd take that as either nominal or minimal diameter. They will not go around 10 mm dia cable.
And yes, they work.
