One addition: I didn't anticipate this and IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE PRODUCT. When you activate the NUM LOCK (number lock) on the keypad, it activates the number lock on the netbook/laptop keyboard. This causes the U,I,O to type 4,5,6 and the J,K,L to type 1,2,3 and the M to type zero. this is something you need to be aware of. I STILL LOVE IT!
1) It does work. You can type numbers and use most keys.
Cons
1) You will need to let the keyboard software download onto your Mac.
2) The num lock does not work for Macs (the only key that does not function).
3) The cord is too short to reach around the mac if you want to place it on the right hand side of the computer (mostly applies to right handed individuals).
The following is a wordy explanation.
I initially bought this product so I could easily input grades into the grading software we use at our school (Teacherease) from home. At home I used a Mac Book Pro and found it tedious to input grades only using the numbers at the top of my keyboard. I wanted a numeric keypad that would allow me to maneuver up and down the grade column within my gradebook and still enter numbers.
However, the product did not meet all of my criteria. Don't get me wrong, it does allow me to input numbers into my Mac Book, but the num lock feature does not work on Macs. I still have to resort to using the arrows on my laptop's keyboard (which isn't too big of a deal, but I was looking forward to only using the numeric keypad). The other issue I found is the USB cord is too short to reach around my Mac Book to allow me to used my right hand. Being right handed, this was a major nuisance. Luckily, I had a USB extension cord that solved that problem.
Overall, the product does what I need it to do. It is the other features, short USB cord and no num lock function, that were a disappointment.
However, the cord is way too short, and the usb part is at right angles with the cord, making it nearly impossible to plug into anything without buying an extension.
This is done in order to allow the cord to be wrapped around the side in a special way, something that's completely unnececarry.
So, one really good feature, that all others are too stupid to put in their product, combined with a rather annoying feature.
It took several tries to get the muscle memory down but after a while you'll be typing numbers at a break neck speed.
Love the addition of the double 0 (zeros) as it shaves off milliseconds off my already fast typing speed.
The buttons feel really sturdy and feels like it can withstand 1000s of button presses.
My only gripe with the product is in implementation of the cord. The cord is fairly long which is much appreciated, but you are forced to wrap it around the border of the product which is a bit tedious a times, especially if you're in a rush. I wished there was mechanical wind up feature instead. Also a TAB button on the device would also be much appreciated
Overall it's a excellent product and saved me countless time at work and at home. I give this product a 4.5/5
