Great light-hold pomade

I have short hair and needed something that could hold my hair in place lightly without making my hair waxy/greasy like with clay or wax. I wanted a natural look that didn't look crunchy or glossy, and this pomade did the job perfectly.

It smells great, goes in easy, and doesn't leave a shine. My hair is still a little loose in that it moves in the wind, but for the most part it keeps the shape I left it in. I don't use a whole lot, so I haven't tested to see if using more increases the hold. It washes out easily too!

I have sensitive scalp too, and usually get breakouts, but since using this I haven't had any at all. I'm not a doctor so I won't declare it as scalp-friendly or hypoallergenic but personally, my scalp gets along with this product just fine.

It's a little on the expensive side, but overall I'm really happy. Likely going to pick up the V76 shampoo at some point once I run out of BYRD.

Not bad, but not firm hold

I wanted to love this product, I really did. I won’t say it’s terrible, because it’s not. I think some people probably get great results with it, but those are not people who are looking for a jar product with an actual firm hold. This is a great example of a product that feels and looks good in your hair, but doesn’t really provide much in the way of actual control, if that’s what you’re looking for. Walking outside in a light wind will destroy your style if you have fine hair, and I also noticed a matte grittiness that appeared after restyling my hair a couple of times throughout the day. Humidity would be a nightmare.

This paste checked a lot of boxes for me; smells great, feels quality, etc, but the hold isn’t firm. I found that applying small amounts gradually to clean towel-dried hair helped to build volume, and it even gives a healthy natural shine. But the hold isn’t there, even after using different hairsprays. To get the firm hold I was looking for, too much product needed to be used and it causes my hair to collapse.

If you have a head of thick or coarse hair that needs some hard styling balm/cream, give this a try. It reminds me very much of of American Crew Forming Cream once it’s in your hair, as a reference.

I had some full hair molding paste made awhile back, then Vaughn V76 molding paste ran out in the whole world. I emailed the company and they told me in 2 weeks they would have it out again (this was back in December). Finally it came out and I bought 3 of them. The first thing I did was compare an old Vaughn v76 molding paste to the new ones ingredients. It is literally about 40% different in ingredients/recipe, whatever you want to call it. But I was like, well maybe it will be just as good as the older one. Boy was I wrong. Completely different. I *pray* Vaughn V76 molding paste will change its ingredients back to the old version when this COVID stuff is over. Very sad about the new ingredients, messes your hair up completely :*-( …

This is one of the best hair products I've used. A little bit of this paste goes a long way. I rub my hands and run my fingers through my hair multiple times while bring my hair to the style I'm looking for. Then I finish it with a comb, and voila, my hair is good to go. I usually found myself putting so much hair product just to keep my hair in place, and my hair would be stiff as a rock, and shiny. With this product, I get the perfect touch to my hair and very little shine. Just wish it was a bit cheaper.

I've used this molding paste for a couple of years now and have tried other products intermittently during that time. V76's product is by far my favorite. It has great hold and washes out of the hair easily without leaving residue. I've tried other oil-based clay pomade products, and they are difficult to wash out, making your hair more oily over time.

Additionally, the product's site advertises clean ingredients (e.g., free of parabens, sulfate, mineral oil, etc.), and that's important to me.

Bought for 30% off on prime day, but even then it wasn't cheap at $10/oz. First thing I noticed was the off-putting smell, very reminiscent of ointment / tiger balm. Second thing was that I needed to use a lot of it to achieve any bit of hold (nickel sized amount for inch long hair)... even then, after an hour out, my hair was messed up like I hadn't used anything. Lastly, the ingredient label was stuck on haphazardly and upside down... Not a great sign of a quality product (wonder if it's counterfeit, or wrong product in the jar).
