David Earl Williams III (1984) is a U.S. Navy Veteran, novelist, amateur voice actor & community activist. He was born in Evanston, Illinois, but was raised in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. He graduated from Nicholas Senn High School in 2002 and then enlisted into the U.S. Navy for four years. Following his military service, he would study abroad seeking post-secondary education at Lethbridge College in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He would earn an associate degree in General Studies in 2008. Williams is of multiracial heritage and is related to the late former Democratic Oklahoma State Senator Gene Stipe.

His hobbies & interest include: Working out, long-distance walking, listening to Video game music, Politics & Swing dancing.

A Great Resource for Character Development

As a writer and artist, I welcome any resources I can use to help me as I develop my own characters for fiction and graphic novels. This book has proven to be quite an asset in that regard. While I'm not a diehard gamer, I do enjoy games and appreciate role-playing games. This book is basically a manual of sorts to a whole dystopian world. It not a novel, at least not in any conventional sense. I would call it more of a guidebook with a series of profiles. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it does have a narrative running throughout so I won't say there isn't any story. But, for the most part, I enjoyed this for all the character profiles. It is quite detailed and full of wonderful illustrations. Highly recommended.

I love RPGs, table top and video games. And when I was a kid, I always imagined creating my own.

I would make up characters, make backstories, draw maps, think up histories... everything one would need to create a good fictional world.

And that's what this book reminded me of—all that planning and imagination.

I just wish the author had taken it to the next level.

There's a good novel or screenplay here. And while the artwork isn't my style, I can see some people enjoying it.

But the unfulfilled potential here made reading this more disappointing than enjoyable.

This is some storyboarding and a script. Not a novel.

And it's such a shame to see what could be a great story was not given more attention.

Interesting premise. Reads like a screenplay. It would be neat to see this animated or as a graphic novel. The cast is dynamic and the author does a good job of flushing out character backstories. Was looking for a bit more mystery. If you are a fan of screenplays, this is sure to please.

If you are a comic adventure fan this book is for you, fast paced interesting read. Cool graphics of all the characters and their bios. Story of a band of freedom fighters called The Aurora Blade. The first volume is world building which is well done and the characters were well thought out and believable.

The writer has created a world with love and care, complete with pretty good illustrations and a wealth of detail. It draws heavily on anime tropes for the characters, adding a dystopian tinge, and does it well. That's the plus side. On the minus, the writing needs a lot of polishing. It reads like the first draft of a screen play - one with lots of action and not much plot. There's the making of a decent story here, but it needs much more work.
