I, however, bought these window panels for the fabric. I have been looking for window panels similar to the silk window panels that you find at Pottery Barn, but that do not cost $100 and up per panel. So I bought 4 of these in different colors to try to decide which if any of them I might like for different rooms of our home. I found that I like them all. These work very well, although the fabric (as mentioned previously) is not a thick, heavy fabric. The faux silk is very pretty in comparison to the Pottery Barn window panels, and the diamond pattern sewn in gives a nice touch to our rooms that do not have a lot of other patterns happening on bedspreads, rugs, and such. They are triple lined. So although it does let in some light, and the panels are lighter than they appear in the picture, it blocks out the actual heat and I would assume extreme cold. We live in Houston, which is hot as h*ll for pretty much most of the year. And I can tell a substantial difference in the temperature of our home just by having these curtains closed during the day... specifically in the upstairs bedrooms that are a bit more difficult to keep cool. I actually cannot say the same about our black out panels. They block out the light, but there is not a drastic difference in the temperature of the room. I will be buying more of these for some of our other rooms.
Pros: Cheapish, decent looking.
Cons: Not nearly as effective as advertised.
However, neither of the panels have an even hem: both panels angle up towards the left. The gaps are very noticeable. Fortunately our couch blocks most of the view, so considering the price I'm keeping them.
