Bought this for a couple of different applications one being hanging a mirror. It works great but be absolutely sure to be careful with the adhesive on the back of the velcro, once you pull the backing off, anything it comes into contact with it's going to stick, learned the hard way. Great product and much stronger then the bargain bin stuff.

The quality of the velcro is really good, but you'd expect that from Velcro. But also, the adhesive backing is extremely sticky, so I definitely recommend peeling the backing as you are applying it rather than removing it from the whole strip and trying to apply it like I did on the first piece. I put down one end and a tiny portion of the backing further down accidentally touched the surface lightly. I had a heck of a time removing it so I could flatten it out, even though I hadn't pushed it down at all. I expect it will last pretty much forever and shouldn't pull away after removing the item over and over.

Strong and Sticky - Use Patience

I've used this to hold large LiIon batteries to the devices they power. I've used it indoors and outside in wet and dry, hot and cold conditions for over a year now. It works very well indeed.

The adhesive on the back of the velcro is aggressive. Once applied to a smooth, dry surface, it will not come off easily. Over time, the adhesion only seems to improve. It is so sticky, in fact, that it can be a real challenge to remove the backing material from the velcro. I generally resort to using an Exacto knife or razor blade to make a slit in the backing material, then I bend the velcro and slide my fingernail along the backing to catch the slit I made.

The large roll makes this product ideal for large jobs requiring generous amounts of velcro to hold heavy objects. So I use it generously and it has not disappointed. Cutting it with a sharp pair of scissors seems to work best, but after a single cut I find that the aggressive adhesive has left deposits on the scissors, making them difficult to use. Some denatured 99% isopropyl alcohol on a piece of paper towel removes the adhesive easily enough. Spraying the scissors with some silicon lubricant helps reduce the amount of adhesive that gets deposited on the scissors.

Apply this product liberally, using good tools and patience, and you will likely be very satisfied with its performance.

Sticks to outdoor carpet

I used some black FOSS automarine outdoor carpet (0.58 sq/ft Menards) in my square body truck I wanted something I could pull up easily to get moisture and dirt out from time to time. Of course I have some 1" deep floor mats. But you still miss the mats from time to time.

I just cleaned the freshly painted new floors with some alcohol rubbing pads then applied the sticky side down. I then rubbed this with a roller to crush it down and these are not coming off easily. If you have curved surfaces use just a drop of superglue to help things stick better.

What I was not expecting is that the barbed end of this product sticks to the backside of the outdoor carpet so I did not even need to use the soft side of this product. It holds the carpet down very well with no movement yet the carpet is still removable so I can keep my new floors free of moisture to prolong the life.

“Strong” is an excellent descriptor for every aspect of this product. Perfect for my application, but can easily skip into “overkill” territory.

The hold between the hook and loop Velcro pieces: Very Strong.

The hold of the adhesive of the back of the Velcro pieces: also Strong, to the point where you’ll want to be very accurate when first laying it down, because once it has started to stick, there’s no peeling it off and repositioning.

I think that this product is suitable for applications in which you want to retain the ability to remove/access the Velcro’d item, but would actually do so rarely. Think “semi-permanent.” For example, I used these strips to attach my guitar effects pedals to a pedalboard. Eventually the pedals may be moved or swapped out, but not on a daily or regular basis. So these strips would be good for, say, holding an emergency flashlight to the wall at the top of the basement stairs. You can pull the flashlight down when needed, but most of the time it will sit static. However, if your application requires you to access or pull the velcro’d object down more regularly, this product will likely be a bit too much.

Also, pay attention to the surface that you’re adhering the Velcro to. This stuff is so strong that it might pull the paint/lift the backing surface before the Velcro (or backing adhesive) release. That said, the “grip” of the Velcro is so strong that the adhesive may give way before the Velcro does.

The long and the short of it is: make sure you’ve assessed your needs properly first. Sure, you want the stuff to hold, but this stuff REALLY holds.
