I have bought the popular brand at the store for $17 and was not happy with it at all. But, because of someone's very positive review here, I decided to purchase two of these. They are thicker, and have a very smooth shiny finish to them. On my expensive one, the ink sucked right into it, but on this when I laid ink down on my mat, I could let it sit before wiping and it didn't stain. I love these mats. So worth the few bucks and more! If you use a craft mat, purchase this one, and you won't be unhappy. I'm forever buying from here. You can see how shiny this mat is in my photo. Everything slips right off the Teflon surface

I love it I ordered 3 to give one to daughter in law and a friend. I liked them so much that I am ordering 3 more to keep for myself. They are a little thicker than the Ranger mat and for a fraction of the price. I love to craft and work with paint, markers, glue, hot glue and various other stuff. I have had no problem. The mat cleans right up and is as good as new. I highly recommend them. Thank You Junkie Dog.
Almost forgot best part. They are made in USA.

Not the right product for me

If this didn't crease so easily, it would be a better product. This seems to be best if you have a permanent space for crafts, where you can just put this down on your work space and leave it. I ended up using a thicker silicone baking sheet, because I can roll it up, throw it in my project bag, store it for months on end, take it to a friend's house, unroll it ... and it still rolls out flat and undamaged. This product arrived with creases, and had to be set out flat and warmed up with books on it to flatten it out, just to use it after shipping. Adding a sturdy piece of cardboard to the packaging, so it arrives flat and smooth would be a good idea.

Item came carefully packaged in a sturdy tube and arrived much faster than anticipated and in good condition. It is very thin, but if you tape it down to your surface/table it should work just as well as the other, thicker, more expensive craft mats. It is very "slickery". :) If it doesn't hold up for long I will write an addendum, but should work fine. If it holds up extra well, I will come back and put in a 5th star.

Addendum: Months later I still have my first mat taped to my craft surface and it works great! I have added a fifth star. Others complain that it came folded but mine came in a sturdy tube both times I ordered--I ordered more for my new studio table. :)

Unlike the description mine was tossed into a box with a bunch of other things I ordered. It was completely crushed by everything. I layed it out with my cricut on top of it hoping the creases would go away but there are just too many and they're holding strong. Why in the world would a product like this get shipped to me like that? Waste of money!!!

The instructions say not to fold, but it arrived folded and now has a permanent crease in it. I wish it was a heavier weight product as it tends to slide around and is very thin. I don't think I would call it a "mat". It is definitely non-stick, though. Wax paper might just work as well, except this product is heat proof around the embossing heat guns. I wonder if this is a glorified baking liner being sold as a craft mat??

This is my third one!! Not that they wore out, it because I found more uses for them in my craftroom! These work great for ink smooching and many other techniques used in art journaling and card making! One of my mats I cut into 4 equal pieces so I can bring my ink to my book instead of trying to smoosh a book on a mat. Also a 1/4 is a perfect size to keep in your art on the go bag!! I put mine after used into a zip bag then clean better and dry when I get home! I love these and their a fraction of the cost of others. They're non-porous so nothing leaks through so your not making messes anywhere you use it! I can't recommend this mat enough!! I plan on buying more as gifts for my crafty friends and so I always have extra for myself and company when we can do that again! Get more than one, or you'll be back real soon for more!

I love this craft mat!!!!! I saw videos for years of people using non stick craft mats, and I thought... " That's just for the pros". When I finally had a few extra dollars, I decided to buy this mat. It literally changed how I use concentrated watercolor, acrylic paints, inks, sprays, gelatos, pretty much everything I ever use. It's a palette, a mask, a thing you can get dirty and clean up real quick, a soft surface for writing, and so many more things. If I could recommend one thing to someone new to crafting, especially new to mixed media, I'd recommend this before pretty much everything else!
