VHT SP942 Satin Black Vinyl Dye for vinyl or carpeting restores or changes the color of any vinyl upholstery, seats and trim, or the short nap carpeting found in today's cars, boats and watercraft. It is ideal for use on stiff or pliable vinyl, simulated leather or plastic. VHT Vinyl dye is not a paint but a true dye, which permanently changes the color of the substrate. It is extremely resistant to cracking or fading. Careful preparation is essential and all traces of dirt, silicone products, vinyl and rubber protectants, oils and greases must be removed. Incomplete preparation will not produce a satisfactory result. Follow all label instructions on each can and use with extra care as dyes are permanent. VHT vinyl dyes dries to the touch in 30 minutes and thoroughly overnight. No curing is required.

Pros: Really does work much better than spray paint for vinyl seats. No issues with any of the cans i bought not working. When prepared properly, the dye holds up remarkably, ive tried to scratch it with rough items and it is doable, but very difficult.
Cons: When people say to not try to use it on days where its cold or hot, they mean it, i've been forced to wait til winter is over to finish spraying my seats because the quality is noticeably worse when the temperature drops. A good amount of preparation is required, i tried it both ways, a quick rubbing of the surface you're planning to paint with sandpaper then acetone is unfortunately a must for best results.
Notes: The dye does not bond well to some plastic areas in my car, more heavy duty plastics required a lot more spraying and scratched a lot easier, i would recommend an acrylic paint for any problem areas. The blue on the cap is really the blue you'll get, it was not influenced at all by the surface i was painting, i expected it to act more like fabric dye and blend slightly producing a daker color, but whether i sprayed something beige or something black, it covered it up and ended up the same shade. Lastly, i didn't want to list this as a con, as its probably just me not having enough experience, but the cans don't have as much in them as i would expect, to do just my back seat area its taken me 3 cans so far.
Anyways, the package cam on time as stated. I just used this can yesterday and I must say I was happy with the results. I probably should have bought the darker gray, but I think the color that this one came out to be would be the exact color of my carpet if it were brand new. I plan on buying more and just spraying all the carpet so that it could look the same. I am pretty sure I didn't do the spraying method correctly, BUT I liked the end result. I plan on going back as well and spraying the whole back floor evenly because my main concern was where the bleached area was.
Notes about the product: It does have a moderately strong chemical smell so if you were to use it on something like I car I recommend making sure you let it ventilate. I personally was going to be driving for at least 30 minutes back to my destination after applying this, so I just left the back windows down. I didn't actually do a test touch after applying the dye, so I cannot comment on how long it takes the dry. I am assuming that the ventilation that I provided was enough because this morning when I got up and drove to work the smell was definitely almost completely nonexistent.
