Makes my hands smell like I've been handling change
Before I bought this, I was using a homemade spinner made out of a yo-yo bearing and cardboard and tried different things for weights like coins and other random household items, so this is my first real spinner.
Since I ordered on February 10, 2017, my spinner came unbranded, without the Victorem logo on it. It looks like they now have a logo. It doesn't really matter to me either way if it has the logo or not.
The product description for this says that the diameter is 3 inches, or 8 cm, but it's actually 2.3 inches, or 6 cm. I'm glad that it's smaller than described because this is a great size for me having smaller hands. It's about the same diameter as my homemade cardboard spinner. I think if it was bigger, it would be harder for me to spin.
It's made of copper with brass caps. I weighed it on my scale and it came out to 75 grams/2.6 ounces. It has a very smooth feeling without any sharp edges, so it won't hurt your fingers when you start or stop it. Because it's made of copper, it does leave a smell on my hands, similar to the smell when you've been handling a bunch of pennies.
Out of the box, I did a table spin, not flicking that hard, and it spun for 3 minutes and 16 seconds - I've been able to get it past 4 minutes. I've read about people getting up to 9 minute spins with similar spinners. I haven't cleaned the bearings yet, so maybe spin times would be better once I do or if I flick it harder. I fidget more with it, flicking it and stopping it a lot, so longer spin times aren't that important to me. It spins smoothly and well enough for me.
It uses cageless bearings, so there are 7 balls that move freely within the bearing. If you spin it vertically, you can definitely hear the balls moving around. Depending on which side is face down when holding it horizontally, it either has a quiet whirring sound, or what I would describe as a repetitive scratching noise.
The thing that causes the noise is the piece of metal that holds the bearing in place - not the caps, but the metal underneath the caps. This metal has grooves in it that you can insert something in to unscrew it and remove the bearing. This piece spins along with the rest of the spinner when it's in place. When it's face down, this metal piece with the grooves weighs down and rubs against the caps to cause the noise. It's really loud when this side is face down on a table, so if you want a quieter spin, you need to have that side facing up. It's not as loud when it's in your hand, but there's still a noticeable difference in sound between which side is facing up or down.
Other than the noise depending on which way it's facing and the smell it leaves on my hands, I'm satisfied with it for my first spinner.
February 28, 2017 update: The day after I wrote this review, the noise on the louder side mostly went away. The spinner now just makes the whirring noise on both sides. There's still a tiny difference in sound, but it's barely noticeable at all. I left the original review intact in case anyone experiences something similar with one side sounding louder than the other. The sound eventually evens out after spinning it for a while.
Step 1 - untwist the caps and take them off
Step 2 - you will see another piece that is the same color as the caps
Step 3 - tighten that piece intill you cant tighten it anymore
Step 4 - put everything back together
Step 5 - now it shoulf spin longer doing these steps made my spinner spin for 10 MINS!!!
The reason this happens is when you spin it over time the treats get loose so a PERMANENT fix would be lock tight.
Here are my pros and cons
Spin time 10mins!
Heavy duty i dropped it tons of times
Copper and brass
Full ceramic R188 bearing
Like i mentioned before in the steps that problem
SOLUTION is to put lock tight on the treads like i said before
UPDATE: just got more than 7 minutes on a spin! See new photo...
8 minutes 33 seconds my new record
I like the Samshao, I love the Victorem (I have to go with the one with the longer spin time).
If you have to buy only one, the Victorem is the winner. If you have some extra money, buy both and test the spin times (please comment with your results).
Update: I also bought the Neo-Tree Aeroship fidget spinner on Amazon and tested it against the others.
My results: 1. Victorem (best spin time)
2. Neo-Tree (just slightly shorter spin time, almost the same as the Victorem)
3. Samshao (Shortest spin times of the three by a big margin)
