Get the picture: Beware the sound!

My wife and I bought two Vizio 26 inch LCD TVs to replace older tube types. We settled on Vizio because it was high definition and one of the few manufacturers of 26" wide sets that would fit into the compartments where the old 27" TVs stood. I have no complaint about the picture quality, which was provided with ample tuning adjustments. I was forewarned that the sound quality was not much, and it wasn't, but then most small flat screen TVs are equally bad sounding. I bought two ZVOX amplifier/speakers to set these new sets on, since there was ample height available because of their lower profile compared to the former tube sets. My one complaint was that the TV sets contained no RCA jack audio outputs that I could use to conventionally hook up to a sound system and my ZVOX amp/speakers did not offer any other means. I hooked it up by using the TV stereo headset output, using a mini-phono adapter to RCA females. It seems to work fine, the sound is now great, but the jerry-rigging seems to me to be an unnecessary engineering oversight.

Purchased this item several months ago for our 5th wheel RV. While traveling you can hook up to cable for viewing your favorite shows. Compared to the HDTV supplied with the RV, this TV is much better in quality, reception and ease of use. Connecting and obtaining reception, with each towns viewing area, Vizio connects, receives stations and displays results within 2-5 minutes. (The other TV takes 15 minutes and the quality of reception is grainey). You are supplied with a stand and all the wires to connect to cable or Satellite, and all the batteries for the remote. The sound is clear and gives you enough wattage to hear well, the color is very good with vibrant colors on all stations and no adjustment needed. I always hesitated purchasing a Vizio, but I am glad I did. The price is very reasonable with the quality and options given. We recently purchased a SmartTV and the quality of this Vizio is comparable and a lot less expensive. Very happy with the product to date.

I researched TV's to find one with full HD quality, a high contrast ratio with basic features, a good name and reliability and I found this one. I have had it only 2 weeks and so far am very pleased with it. I use it as a bedroom TV and it doubles as a computer monitor. I was very lucky though and bought it when it was $299. Before my TV even arrived I saw the price jump to $389. Even at that price I would say it is worth it. Great name and great reviews. Hard to go wrong with a Vizio in my opinion.

While looking for a small yet reliable LED TV, I first bought the Samsung UN22D5003 which resulted in a piece of crap for image and sound. Then I decided to return it and give a chance to Vizio with the E260VP model. In order to be brief:

Pros:
The best angle view I have ever seen.
Excellent quality of image.
Image controls are pretty accurate.
It has lots of input and output connections.
It integrates automatically with other Vizio devices.
It is made of high quality materials.
Light and thin.

Cons:
Its sound is very good for being a small TV but if you wish to have a full experience, buy a home theater.

At the end I would say this TV is a must if you are looking for a small to medium size LED TV.

Beautifully packaged in cardboard

Easy to set up

Good assortment of input types, including two HDMI

Tremendous picture, even on non-HD channels from our
Dish Network receiver which only offers a few HD channels

Cons:

The remote is not particularly well designed (some of the buttons
are tiny) but as our Dish remote learned the commands for the Vizio
remote, this is a minor issue

Can't comment on the audio as we use a receiver and have never used the internal
speakers

I admit my decision to purchase this set was driven for the most part by the glowing reviews. Not always a smart move.I even went ahead with the purchase in spite of the many reviewer complaints about the sound quality. I set it up for 1080p with an HDMI cable from my Comcast box.

I am here to tell you not to underestimate just how poor the sound quality is. It is comparable to listening to a tinny transistor radio. Be prepared to spend money on a sound bar or equivalent to make this acceptable even if it is just a bedroom tv. If the audio engineering wasn't pathetic I would have given it 4 stars.

The other issue is that the picture preset modes (normal, vivid, sports, etc)gave pretty poor and inconsistent color rendition and picture quality. My Sony and Samsung HD sets were beautiful from the get-go so I was pretty frustrated and seriously considering sending the unit back. The mediocre VIZIO user manual really doesn't explain how to optimize anything. You really need to "tune" this set in the "custom" mode to optimize the picture. There are some good articles on this subject and being able to make the adjustments saved me from sending the unit back.

On the positive side, once dialed in, the picture is good and the TV is nicely styled. Overall it is easy to use and the price is fair. The total height is just under 18" so it fits nicely in smaller spaces. A 26 incher is good as a bedroom or utility tv, but as I've learned, for primary entertainment, bigger is better. Well, I'm okay with it for now, but if had a do-over, I'd probably go with Samsung or Sony.

I have been an avid Samsung fan but found something intriguing about the Vizio when I did my comparison. I decided to give it a shot with a 26inch. I am so happy I made that choice. The TV was so easy to set up and was ready to go in minutes. I was so impressed with the clarity of the picture and the sound. If I have one less than perfect reaction it would be for the remote. The layout is not the greatest and the buttons are tiny.
