I am using the book for the VCP exam.
Chapter 7 is so full of cut and paste mistakes that the chapter is almost useless. I was unaware the SCSI LSI Logic Parallel Controller "causes the virtual serial port to connect when the machine is powered on". Really? The SCSI port uses the serial port?
As of June 21, 2010 there is no errata published yet.

The book is useful though. Verify everything and read all the VMware whitepapers.

There are a LOT of mistakes in this book. I get the impression that the book was simply an update from the ESX 3.X book and the author phoned in the rest.

Chapter 7 is a disaster. It's worth the price of ~$30 but just barely. Get another book too or better yet a class on vSphere. And you simply MUST have a test lab system to try this stuff out on.

Got this book hoping to get a good sence of the test but it was way short of the mark. I missed passing the VCP 410 by 23 points. The book is missing some important facts and information that is cover by the test. Like install ESX and ESXi server that boots for a iSCSI or SAN LUN. Very dispointed and now out $175 for a test that I did not pass.

This book was obviously rushed to press in order to be one of the first exam prep books out for the VCP410 test. As other reviewers have stated, there are a lot of typographical errors. I could get past the typos but the real shame here is that the book didn't come close to preparing me for the exam. I read every page in the book and simultaneously worked the examples in a ESX 4.1 lab I have set up. While I consistently scored 85%-90% on the quizzes at the end of each chapter and scored 87% on the practice exam that is on the CD included with the book, I scored a 277 on the actual VCP410 exam that I took this morning - that's 55% and not enough to pass.

I would recommend you look at other titles for a good VCP410 exam prep book because this one just doesn't fit the bill.

I chose this book because it promises 100% coverage of the VCP 410 exam. I took my exam today and I can promise this book dosn't come close to 100% coverage. In my opinion, it comes closer to about 30% coverage on topics covered by the exam and approximately 10-20% coverage in terms of depth of knowledge on topics covered by the exam. Save your money and your time and instead of buying this book or any similar title, focus on the VCP410 exam blue print and related product documentation published by vmware. The author and publisher of this book should be ashamed of themselves for touting this garbage as 100% coverage for an exam as difficult as the VCP410; as a matter of fact they should be issuing full refunds to the folks that bought it.

Good book, well organized, etc, but it will NOT prepare you adequately to pass the exam. This book may be a good starting point, but it is not a complete picture. To pass, you will need to know every option for every configuration screen, as well as have a lot of hands on experience with troubleshooting.
