Product Description
VOEZ is a rhythm game developed by Rayark Games that features 3 difficulty levels. In each level, there is a black horizontal line at the bottom of the screen, as notes fall down from the top of the screen on the note line. The note line can move horizontally depending on the song and its chosen difficulty. The player must either tap, hold, slide or swipe the note depending on which note it is.

That of which is ironically my main criticism of this version. You play it to play it. The only real unlockables is a storyboard of the "story" (which is literally the storyboard but with text here and there), and player icons it seems.
The gameplay is relatively forgiving for a rhythm game as there doesn't seem to be a health bar. You play that song until either you quit, or finish regardless of performance.
HOWEVER, getting the best timing, as in a "rainbow" perfect, is exceptionally difficult. So actually mastering this game to 100%ing every song with perfect accuracy is REALLY DIFFICULT, even by most other rhythm game standards!
The gameplay is also relatively unique as the area in which the notes scroll down to, dynamically changes based on the song/difficulty.
It does have controller support, but it isn't as true to the original gameplay as just using the Switch's touchscreen. By the way, don't forget to put a screen protector onto your Switch! These sorts of games eat the Switch's plastic screen for breakfast, especially at those later difficulties/harder-songs!
Overall, its basically just a really well executed rhythm game, but thats it. No bells or whistles, just the game. So if you like rhythm games, feel free to demo it on your smartphone first before purchasing the Switch version. That way you can see if this sort of rhythm game, or game in general is right up your alley!
PS: Do be mindful of how much force you're using to play VOEZ. If you go too SiCkO mODe while playing, your Switch may fly off of whatever surface you're playing on. Also note that, while sweating, your fingers can start to "drag/stick" to the screen. Very frustrating when in the heat of things.
These gloves:

can remedy that issue a bit. Japanese arcade gamers are notable for using touch screen compatible for arcade games that use touchscreens, as it virtually negates all of the regular issues associated with touch screen gaming.
This makes swipe notes much easier as your fingers with the proper gloves on, will simply "glide" across the touchscreen, as opposed to dragging somewhat uncomfortably.
Do keep all that in mind while playing any intense touch screen game!
Do also keep in mind, there's A LOT of songs here! So if you really do plan on "perfecting" every single song, you'll have plenty of songs to do just that. Its actually cheaper to buy the Switch version than to buy all the songs on the mobile version! So for Switch owners, if you want the entire VOEZ song list, go with the Switch version to get the cheapest price! I got mine for $18.99
so look for copies around that price range if possible, as stocks for this game seem to be a bit limited.
Do also keep in mind, you have more space to actually play VOEZ if you use it on the Switch verses a phone, being as the Switch is part (gaming) tablet. That jack of all trades trait(s) of the Switch really does help at bringing the best of almost all of gaming into one place! Good mobile games included, as VOEZ is one of them!
