I am posting this on a few VSL #3 Amazon listings not to cross-pollinate my own posting or promote the product beyond my own personal experience, but in hopes of saving people time and money, and possibly help someone suffering from GI issues. VSL #3 is very different than other probiotics and hence this will be very long because there is simply more to it.

As someone with Crohn’s, and with a brother with severe Crohn’s and a mother with UC, I can identify with how debilitating, dehumanizing, and sickening IBD is. I can relate to planning your whole life based on strategic mapping of bathrooms, and hating that you define yourself by your condition, and that sometimes you are so sick that quality of life is zero, you contemplate the value of your existence, and you would do damned near anything to stop the suffering. I know the frustration of continual colonoscopies, medications with damning side effects with little gain, and relapsing conditions that flare at the worst possible times. I’ve been there with the psychological toll of having a condition that makes living a ‘normal’ life difficult. For those without IBS/IBD, give thanks…and please give those with such conditions the understanding and empathy that would allow logical/medical explanation of why someone with such conditions may behave in a way that seems unusual. For example, someone with IBD who tells you they cannot go out or abruptly cancels plans is not necessarily trying to be unfriendly/anti-social, but may be limited in the activities in which they can do, especially during flares.

Considering VSL #3? Do you have gastrointestinal problems or other major health issues? If not, it is probably NOT the probiotic for you.

VSL3 is a great product and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately the vendor that fulfills this for Amazon.com is AmericaRx and the way they ship this product will cause your probiotics to be dead when they arrive and you will have wasted your money. I ordered the 3-pack on August 28 and today is September 6th and I have received nothing. 10 days is too long. Probiotics should be shipped 2-day or better in temperature controlled packaging.

I recommend VSL3 (and if you are out of the US Mutaflor) but I recommend you get it from a source other than AmericaRx.

I began to suffer from intestinal problems a few years ago. Some of the symptoms definitely indicated Crohn's or irritable bowel syndrome. Most doctors don't have much in their medical supplies that can really help you with this, and most people just learn to deal with the suffering, eventually some needing to go through devastating surgery. I accidentally came across the solution to this problem along with a recommendation for this particular product by a gastroenterologist. It is important that you take the tablet a few minutes before eating with a full glass of water. It is necessary that the tablet goes pass the stomach into the intestine. If you eat first, it sits in the stomach and the acidic secretions there destroy its usefulness. The product also needs to stay cold to keep the bacteria alive. Do not have a hot drink to wash it down. The company that sells this, will only send it out at the beginning of the week in cold packs so that it doesn't linger in a post office over the weekend. It can go for a few days without losing its potency, but it is important to keep it chilled as much as possible. It has the largest number of bacteria of any other probiotic products out there without an Rx. The proof that it works, is in its use. Until I started to use this, I suffered much with symptoms I prefer not to get into here. After using this probiotic for about 3 days, all problems resolved. It was almost too good to be true. Even now, 2 year later, it is still working. If I try to go off of it, the symptoms come back. I use it once each day, some people may need to use it twice each day.

several months ago, I self-diagnosed for leaky-guy syndrome which basically dropped my diet to only a hand-ful of items that my body can digest. All sorts of mal-absorbtions creep when you've leaky guy and I noticed a sudden loss in muscle weight.

After several research, multiple doc visits and anti-biotic treatments..the results were sub-par and added to leaky-guy, H-Pylori infection fueled the fire. Reading Dr. natasha mcbride campbell's GUT theory gave tremendous insight and her prescriptions to heal leaky gut. One of the items on her list was pro-biotics and after taking one that had 12 billions counts, it helped a bit but when your gut is leaky, one may need more than just 12 billion. THis is where VSL helps with their high bacteria count pro-biotics. I saw the results instantaneously and combatting with few other items, the gut seemed to improve. ALso check out Dr. Hyman's recommendations on healing leaky-gut and he does recommend VSL #3. I'd highly recommend VSL probiotics to restore and heal any issues with GUT.

I suffered Irritable Bowel Syndrome for years, not realizing that there might be an easy solution. I cannot promise you will experience the same results, but I have been feeling great for almost a year, since I started taking this. I used to have flare ups every four to 13 weeks. Not any more.
