We bought this adorable kitty toy for our granddaughter's first birthday. She likes it, but not as much as we thought she might, but of course she's not old enough to tell us what she thinks about it......as for people hearing the word, "rape," well, I was surprised at that....we never heard the toy as saying anything other than "chase" and "race" and kitty speaks more clearly than a lot of people we have to deal with on a daily basis.....there is absolutely no "p" sound to be heard at all. Sometimes it seems like some people are always looking for what they can find wrong with everything and half the time, that in itself is what is wrong with this world in general.

My daughter got this for her first birthday, SHE LOVED IT! It has a sensor on the back and front so it dosnt bump into things and it spins around when it gets near an object (like a roomba), plays music (gets annoying, but she likes it so you can just tune out the music like on every other kids toy you have). Not very educational, but she she had fun chasing it around the house.... that is, she had fun for the two days it worked. As with anything, toddlers pick up there toys, and then usually drop or throw them. my daughter dropped this on the carpet twice, and it started to not work properly, started "stuttering" and freezeing. She dropped it on the hardwood once, and it stopped working all together. You would THINK they would make these more durable since they are intended for toddlers. I am so bummed, but I am not going to be buying another just for it to break.
The voice even says "chase me" and when you pick it up it says "weeeeeee" so the designers knew that little kids would be roughousing with it, so it ought to be more durable.
Too bad, cuz untill it broke, she really had fun with it. Dont waste your money.

We bought the Catch Me Kitty toy for when our twins were learning how to walk, hoping it would get them moving and build their confidence. For the most part, it's a good toy and does its job. The kitty has sensors which tell it when there is someone or something too close so it can spin around and go in a different direction. There are a couple different modes, learning and singing, and once you catch the kitty you can press the buttons and it will either teach some basics like shapes and numbers or it will sing short nursery rhymes. After a short period of inactivity, it will automatically turn off to save battery. We found that it does not work very well on carpet because the wheels can't get good traction to move it forward. This is okay for us because we just use it on the hardwood or linoleum floors. Also, any kind of hair seems to get stuck in the wheels very easily so you need to clean it out occasionally. Sometimes the kitty can't sense when there is a chair nearby and it gets stuck so we just have to move it ourselves. It also seems that the battery wears out quickly but that could just be that the toy is both moving around a lot and singing/talking. Almost a year later, our twins no longer need it to help them walk but they still like to play with it. One note of caution is that the songs get stuck in your head. Overall, the Catch Me Kitty has been a good toy for us and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to use it as encouragement to help with walking.

We saw this in the store and thought it was a really cute idea. Ended up purchasing it via Amazon, and after it showed up we were very excited to give it to our 16 month old.

Since the age range is listed as 1-3 years, we figured she was still early on enough to enjoy it for a while. But after a short while of play she got somewhat bored with it. The problem is, it's just too easy to catch. When you set it down, it goes forward, and then stops. The idea is as you chase it, it will run away. Instead, she walks (at a slow pace) right up to it and picks it up. If you approach VERY, VERY slowly, it will run away a little, but apparently even a normal walking speed is way too fast for this thing at her age. It should be called "Catch Me If You Feel Like It" because she got bored of it rather quickly and no longer cared.

The toy is cute, and the stuff it says and the songs it sings are slightly fun, but without the primary purpose it just doesn't have staying power. I can say that it is durable (she has put it on furniture and let it "run" off of it several times with no issues). And it does an ok job of avoiding some furniture and walls, but overall, it just doesn't have much staying power for the recommended age range.

If the toy was ranged 8mo-18mo, it may be more of a 4 star item (still has some flaws and repeats the same phrase over and over while in chase mode) but as it is, it is not well suited to the 1-3 year range in my opinion, and is just way too easy to catch for most toddlers to have fun with it for long.

Our baby loves to chase this around the house. We bought it for her when she was first learning to crawl in hopes that it would give her something to motivate her to crawl more and it didn't disappoint in that regard. The biggest downside to this is that it doesn't work on carpet even denser carpet. To be fair I was expecting that it wouldn't work on carpet, so it wasn't a huge surprise. That means when she plays with it if it starts to go off the hardwood floor you have to move in front of it and block the IR sensors in the front (or the ultrasonic sensor in the back if moving backwards). I wish that they had either fixed the wheels / motor so that it wouldn't get stuck on carpet, or could somehow sense the change in flooring.
