Fun and kid-friendly

We bought this for our seven-year-old daughter who loves to sing along with videos on her tablet. She has special needs and some trouble with fine motor control, but she was quickly able to plug in her tablet and sing along. The stand is made to hold a phone, but she just sets the tablet on a shelf nearby. The microphone adjusts to be plenty tall enough for her average height. She loves to make the applause sound after she sings! The disco light is a fun feature, and the system volume doesn't get so loud that we can't tune it out behind a closed bedroom door. :-) Turns itself off after a while to save batteries. A total win for us, still going strong almost a year later.

The little disco ball with the lights can rotate, my daughter loves the little clapping sound feature so she can hype herself up, it can be adjusted for different heights as they grow, cute little songs so learn and they have a little display that plays an animation as the songs play. They can also free play so she can sing her own little song and her herself. So much fun!

This was my sons favorite birthday gift. He loves music and singing and this has great effects (sounds, lights, etc). The microphone is better than most cheap kid microphones but you still have to put mouth quite close to get it to work well which I dont care for but overall it was a great purchase for him. I would recommend this to any little one that loves to sing.

Purchased as a Christmas present back in October for my grandson, who loves to sing and dance. Once opened and put together, we were all expecting a show, but sadly, the sound from the microphone was so poor, we could barely hear his voice. He had to put his mouth almost on it to hear anything, so the stand is useless. The sound from the machine itself is okay, even connected to an iPod or phone, although still not good quality. Very disappointing for a little boy's gift. Purchased too early to return now. I thought V-Tech had better quality.

I wish that I didn't Christmas shop ein November and still had the ability to still return this thing. We unboxed it to be on display on Christmas morning. Tried it out and found that the microphone volume is low (even when set to high) and that there is a static interference sound. I am very very disappointed. It's' for sure not going to be the highlight of Christmas morning for my 5 year old that I had hoped.

Daughter loves this product. She is almost 4 and bought for Christmas from santa. It lights up the whole room and looks like a party! I think the sound is sufficient even after hearing reviews it’s a bit quiet. The song choices it comes with are alright but you can plus in your phone with the cord given and away you go with any song. It has applause which she thinks is so wonderful. It may be a little to old for her yet but she can use most of the buttons pretty good.

My daughter was looking through a catalogue and came across this and wanted to buy it out of her Birthday money and you know I couldn't find it in the stores for her so looked online and got it for a cheaper price on amazon :-) she was so excited to get it and she loved it played with it for weeks non stop, she likes the games in it and got a big giggle out of the sound effects for changing your voice. she doesn't just use it for Karaoke she also tells stories on the microphone and fools around without any music lol I'm sure your child will love this also. My son likes it too when she lets him play with it he's 6 :-) you won't be disappointed with this purchase.

Kids love the "Free mic" and voice effects feature

Purchased for my budding rock-star. Biggest take-away: she loves it.

Some great features: The flashing lights are great, and not so bright that they blind you when you look at them. Build quality is good, and device is reasonably solid. The voice effects are easy for a 6-year old to change, and the audience "clap" and "cheer" buttons are fantastic ideas. There are games built in, but my child does not use them nor have any interest in them at all, so for now it basically provides a way to sing to music playing on TV or over Alexa. It powers off on its own to save battery, and I thank V-tech for that!

A few dings though: The microphone arm doesn't really stay put, even when tightened, and always wants to "rest" in its lowest position. This results in feedback (a low hum) with the built-in speaker. The speaker itself has volume controls, but even the loudest setting is too low. This may be for safety reasons, but every child who has been over to play with this wants to sing along, and hear themselves, to music. That is difficult with the volume setting as it is.

The "audio-input" is probably the weakest feature of the device. It accepts only a head-phone input (1/8" input, comes with the cable) which basically means plugging it into a phone or mp3 player; no bluetooth here. There is a "tray" which I assume is supposed to hold the device. It is better than the floor, but not very secure and children seem to want to put the microphone in the same place. Aside from that, if you actually try it, the music playback (which comes from the built-in speaker) is very low. It has a "voice removing" feature, which in theory lowers the volume of vocals allowing your child's voice to come through. In every song I tried, it did not work well. It will go unused.

Overall, this is still a good, solid product and nice for kids from 3-7, but it's time to ditch the audio-input jack and use bluetooth. As a parent I would love to see more "clap", etc buttons on the microphone and frankly the built-in games are perhaps something only very young children will use. Still a worth-while buy.

Not worth the money, bad design flaws

We bought it for my daughter (6yrs old) as she loves to sing. Let me start by telling you the best part of the toy. The light effect are pretty solid. Even in the middle of the day you can see the lights on an 8' ceiling. It is also fairly simple to put together. Very few parts. This also leads into my first complaint. There is next to no heights adjustments, to make it shorter the best you can do is remove in section of the pole. Secondly if your child is on the shorter side you will need to have the microphone adjustable stand pulled all the way down. This causes it to rub on the light as well as causing microphone and speakers feedback. The microphone is mediocre at best , always seems to have an echo even when the echois not activated. The sound from the microphone is distorted and not very pleasing to the ear. Which leads us to the speaker itself. It's cheap, the speaker is cheap and reminds me of buying a cheap radio. It has no warmth to it and sounds like you singing in a tin can. I had much higher hopes out of a Vtech gadget as usually they are pretty good for quality. Comes with 4 AA batteries and a jack for a DC adapter and yet no DC adapter is provided. The auto programmed songs available in the machine are not common songs your children would know. They seem to be just made up songs. Lastly we come to the the audio input. The jack is a common headphone jack which is no longer used on most newer cell phones these days. There is no blue tooth connection available. So unless you have an old tablet or iPod or a cell phones that is still using the old jack you will be out of luck for using YouTube , Spotify or any other music service to enhance the library. But the light does work very well!!
