UPDATE 8/2020: Changing my review to 5 stars; this has turned out to be a pretty spectacular gift! Still going strong and my son has learned to use some of the more advanced features (video, audio recording, camera effects, etc.) as he's spent more time with it. No issues with it thus far except that the battery compartments do come loose rather easily, but so far nothing has broken even with the rough use that my kids put it through.
I bought this for my son who just turned 4 years old. He is obsessed with taking pictures with my phone and browsing through them, so this turned out to be a pretty good gift.
Pros:
- Good design/grips for children to grasp with both hands
- Easy for kids to power on and start taking pictures right away
- Good size LCD for previewing and viewing pictures
- Decent camera quality (5MP front, 2MP "selfie") and the flash works fairly well in dimly lit rooms
- With a 32GB SD card (not included), you can take many thousands of photos before the card fills up. We have taken over 700 photos already and my 32GB SD card still has 29GB free
Cons:
- A few too many camera features that can be accidentally enabled/disabled by young children that can make the experience frustrating. Namely the timer/countdown mode and flash mode (on/off/auto). I would prefer a pre-set "child" mode and the option to unlock more advanced button uses.
- Video quality is barely passable. It takes grainy 640x480 videos at a low framerate. For the price of this camera I'm not complaining, but just be aware before you buy
Other:
- Takes 4 AA batteries; unit does not have a rechargeable battery inside. A number of reviews I see complain about this but I actually see it as a nice feature. I keep rechargeable AAs on hand and this means that I can swap them out immediately once the ones in the camera die, meaning no tears from my young kids (2 and 4yo) when they are in the middle of playtime and want to keep taking pictures.
- I have had the screen freeze up and power off on me once but the camera powered right back on again. It has not happened more than the once but time will tell.

Great gift idea
The little guy loved this camera. It was perfect for his 6 year old hands. Easy to use & the thickness of the camera made it easier for him to grip while taking all the picture he wanted. I also recommend buy the chip & the travel case for easy storage.
