An excellent book and far ahead of its time. I would not read this book first on the subject of vaccination, though. The book is difficult to read and should not be read in one sitting. If you want a fast read, this isn't it. The hypothesis Harris Coulter presents is mental disabilities and the rise in criminal behavior were brought on in large part from the vaccination program starting in the 1920s with the small pox shot. Next was DPT in 1945. Third was polio in 1955. The barrage of vaccinations occurred later and is worsening every year. The terminology Harris Coulter uses is a bit dated. He calls vaccine injury encephalitis. Encephalitis is brain inflammation.
Coulter's hypothesis is based on anecdotal evidence, and the stories come from a preceding book he co-authored with Barbara Loe-Fisher, "A Shot in the Dark." He asks, "Why were the first autistic children from well to do families?" His answer is the wealthy were the first to vaccinate their children with DPT. (diphtheria, full cell pertussis, and tetanus) The "P" is problematic and has been for decades. After vaccine mandates passed state legislatures, cases of autism started to rise and income groups began to be affected equally. Autism is a hot button issue with the film "Vaxxed" being shown in theaters nationwide.
Other issues Coulter brings up are IQ reduction, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, seizures, food allergies, tics, etc. Instead of looking at disabilities as separate compartments of disorders, Coulter believes learning disabilities are all relatives of each other and symptoms of vaccine injury manifest differently. 1963 was the peak for verbal/math scores for the SAT test. From 1964-1980 the verbal score dropped 11%. In the same time span the math score dropped 7%. If the tests was made easier from 1964-1980 let me know. If the tests were made easier in the aforementioned time span, that means IQ scores have dropped further than originally believed. Is the drop in college test scores due to mass vaccinations?
On the subject of criminality, Harris Coulter drags out his argument a bit too long, at least I think so. I would have liked from Coulter to use graphs in his book, but he can't now that he is dead. Punishment is no deterrent to repeat criminals who suffer from learning disabilities at higher rates than the population at large. Criminals in the statistics he examined have high rates of reduced IQ, ADD, ADHD, seizures, and dyslexia. Has the death penalty eliminated homicide? With lots of prisons and jails locking bad guys up, wouldn't that deter crime? No. The vaccine damaged criminal has no thoughts of long term consequences. Jail and prison are revolving doors for repeat offenders.
Ted Bundy is an interesting case study. His verbal/spatial IQ were on opposite ends. Vax injury? He had a decent upbringing in spite of being born to unwed parents. A birth to unwed parents in the 1940s was taboo. Why is it he placed sharp knives around his sleeping aunt at age 3? We'll never know if Bundy was brain damaged due to his execution and his mother not releasing his complete vaccination record. We can only suspect what really caused his rages. Maybe vaccines spurred on future serial killers. The amount of serial killers born before 1940 is not a long list. All this trouble because of a pediatrician's needle.
A last word of caution: only review the book after reading all the pages. All Harris Coulter really wanted to ask, "Do we really need to vaccinate for diseases which are minor and risk vaccine side effects worse than the disease we're trying to prevent?" This is the toughest review I've had to type due to my own conditions of Asperger Syndrome and tics.
Since 1986 vaccine makers have been shielded from vaccine injury lawsuits. Want to sue your doctor for vaccine injury? NO YOU'RE NOT. Doctors incur no liability for vaccine injury either. The seventh amendment gives us the right to a trial by jury for civil or criminal wrongdoing. But not for vaccine injury. There is a court of special claims that handles vaccine injury cases, but the hearing are not public. Evidence from similar cases is not admitted. (case law) There is no jury. If your case is heard in vaccine court, you and your attorney are fighting a special master which represents the government and you're hoping for compensation. Good luck with that. The fraudulent MMR/autism study of 2004 struck down a 5000 plaintiff omnibus compensation claim. How WRONG. A judge is supposed to be a referee, and not a player on the field.
If you're injured by vaccines, you are on your own.
